The aims of the AAF(G) are to promote and foster game angling in the British Army for serving Regular and Reservist commitment personnel. We are also permitted to allow up to 1/3 of our membership to be ex-serving members as Associates. Priority for Associate membership is to those who have most recently left the British Army so we can offer mutual and if necessary wellbeing support as they transi
tion to civilian life. We expect Associates to reasonably commit to our match calendar and attend our AGM in order to maintain their membership status. The Soldier Palmers compete in numerous angling events in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The competitions are fished from boats as Loch Style to International rules, and some of our planned fixtures include entry into:
Association of Major Fishing Clubs (AMFC) Leagues
Bob Church Classic (Invitational)
Invicta Floating Line
Army/RN v EFFA
Inter-Services
All Services
Renegade 6x4 Series
Airflo Open. We also hold three seasonal events in the Spring, Summer and Autumn Matches which are open to all members as an Intra-Army event and provide a great opportunity to socialise and enjoy a couple of days fishing. Membership of the Federation is divided into 2 categories:
Full Members (Serving):
All serving ranks of the Regular Army, Army Reserve incl FTRS terms of service and MPGS. Associate Membership:
Dependants of serving members of the Regular Army. MOD (A) civilian staff. Please PM us or contact the Committee through our website www.soldierpalmers.org if you are interested in joining. You can also find out more about us if your still serving on Defence Connect when you look for "Army Fly Fishing". Membership opens on the 1st of Jan each year for Serving personnel and Associates have the opportunity to submit an expression of interest of joining in Feb/Mar ahead of the season.
