The Bookshop was set up as a new business on 1st September 2010 by Annie Walter. The main aim behind The Bookshop is to provide a friendly, efficient and interesting shop in which residents and visitors to Alderney can browse at leisure and purchase books and related goods. The range of books available includes thrillers, biographies, classics, general fiction, history, military history and refere
nce works with sections on cookery, gardening, sport, well-being, hobbies, travel and humour. Many recent publications of interest in all categories are always available with special offers on price where available. We cannot compete with the major online book suppliers on price regarding recent best sellers and the like but do find that prices are comparable for other books.
‘The Bookshop is a member of the Hive initiative www.hive.co.uk launched in September 2011 for the promotion of independent bookshops. This is an exciting new development in the sale of books online at competitive prices – the purchaser logs on to the Hive website, chooses from the vast range of books and DVDs available at very competitive prices, pays online and nominates The Bookshop as the chosen collection point for the goods which are available to be collected within 2/3 days.
