I’m off to India for 2 weeks! Yikes!
Two weeks away… from my husband, my kids, my usual four walls, building this business from a suitcase instead of a kitchen table (to be clear, that’s often where I work, not evidence I’m the one doing the cooking).
If I’m completely honest, it’s not excitement at the moment. There’s a lot of guilt tangled up in there too. If you’re a working parent you know the feeling. The 2am “am I doing the right thing” spiral. I’m up. I’m down. Appreciating the everyday stuff. Glad I’m not doing the everyday stuff for a couple of weeks. Feeling empowered. Feeling guilty. It’s a rollercoaster.
I LOVE and Julia Donaldson’s Room on the Broom but I’m quite looking forward to not reading it for the 80 thousandth time.
But simmering in the background is a quieter belief that this is exactly the right thing for my business and for me.
I’m a strong believer that travel does something special. It takes you out of your echo chamber and gives you the room to breathe. It reminds you that the world is bigger, stranger and more beautiful than whatever is sat in your inbox today.
I’m VERY privileged to be going on this trip. And I will enjoy every second!
So this one’s for any parent who’s ever needed permission to go and do the thing that scares her a bit. Consider this your push.
I’ll be sharing the whole trip here so come along.
