Imagine the hands that shaped your daily bread at The Old Bakery in Victorian times! Sturdy earthenware mixing bowls, worn smooth from years of use. Hand-carved wooden spoons passed down through Angmering families. Copper moulds creating intricate designs for special occasions.

When we restored our Victorian bakery, we discovered marks on the original counters where generations of bakers rolled dough and set their trusted tools. Many local families still treasure their great-grandmothers' baking equipment—each nick and scratch telling stories of Christmas puddings and Sunday treats.

Our kitchen today honors these traditions, blending Victorian character with modern convenience. The oak flour bins may be gone, but the spirit of craftsmanship remains!

Which antique baking tool do you wish you had in your kitchen? A hand-cranked egg be**er? A solid wooden bread trough? Or perhaps one of those specialized copper jelly moulds that created such impressive centerpieces?

✨ Spotted on our travels! ✨

We recently explored beautiful Altea on Spain’s Costa Blanca and stumbled across something special… another 'The Old Bakery'! This one is a lovely boutique for ladies’ clothes and jewellery, tucked away in the whitewashed old town.

What made us smile? They’ve still got their traditional bread oven right inside – a touch of real bakery history, now surrounded by gorgeous dresses and hats!

It’s always wonderful to see how old bakeries get new life across Europe. If you’re ever wandering through Altea, keep an eye out for this charming spot.
