Sometimes a concealed loft TV aerial installation may not be possible due to lack of space. Whenever I install an aerial on the outside of a property, I make it as low profile as possible.

I was called out to a property in the week to remount a TV wall bracket which was fitted by a rather large British electrical retailer.

This image shows the issue that prompted the enquiry.

The retailer has said that as it was installed over a year ago (only just), it is now not their concern.

I carry a variety of different fixings onboard my van which allows me to offer my customers a secure fit for their wall mounted TV's, no matter what their wall type is.

The UK landline switch-off is closer than you think...
..since September 6th 2023 BT have not sold any copper based products. Customers requiring a new home phone line are now put onto their VoIP (voice over internet protocol) service called "Digital Voice". The existing copper PSTN (public switched telephone network) network is due to be switched off in 2025 after being the backbone of connectivity across the UK since 1911....

Tropospheric Ducting Update!

This morning I have had people calling to cancel their appointments due to normal reception resuming, which is telling me that the recent atmospheric issues have passed.

I have been inundated with calls over the last week pretty much regarding the same issue - Pixellating TV channels and sometimes a total loss of TV channels.
I am struggling to try and contact everyone back, but I am trying to catch up in-between my jobs.

When this has happened in the past, I have had these customers cancel appointments before I could get to them as normal service had resumed by itself.

The reason for the issue? Most probably an atmospheric condition called Tropospheric Ducting. It only normally lasts no more than a week.

Tropospheric Ducting is more likely to cause a problem for you if you have a high signal strength coming out of the cable that you plug into your TV or Freeview receiver. Think of it like a temporary natural amplifier. If you have suffered each and every year, it could mean that your signal levels are either out-of-spec, or close to out-of-spec and ideally need to be attenuated/reduced.
