Working on a tailor‑made itinerary for Japan at the moment and I am absolutely loving it.

From neon‑lit streets in Tokyo and tranquil temples in Kyoto, to onsens, mountain scenery, incredible food and those little cultural moments in between, Japan is one of those destinations where every stop feels completely different. Creating a route that pieces all of that together, at the right pace, is such a joy.

Just booked: a dreamy Jamaican multi‑centre for two.

A week in Jamaica, staying at two different Hotels to experience more of what this beautiful Caribbean island has to offer. Think white‑sand beaches, lush tropical gardens, great food and cocktails, plus time to explore beyond the resort and soak up the island’s laid‑back vibe.

Today is World Elephant Day, held each year on 12 August, and I wanted to shine a light on a place that is really getting it right when it comes to caring for these incredible animals.

We visited Phuket Elephant Sanctuary as a family, and it was one of the most moving experiences of our trip to Thailand. The sanctuary provides a safe, ethical home for elephants rescued from trekking, logging and entertainment. There is no riding, no performances and no forced contact. Instead, you quietly observe, watching them roam, bathe and forage while learning about their stories and the impact of responsible tourism.

It was incredibly powerful to share this with the children, showing them how we can appreciate wildlife in a way that puts animal welfare first. If you are considering Thailand and would like to include ethical elephant experiences as part of your holiday, I would be very happy to talk through the best options.

Kuredu Island will always have a special place in my heart. I first visited back in 2009 and I still remember the endless sandbank like it was yesterday: nothing but soft white sand, clear turquoise water and endless horizon.

Kuredu offers a really good range of accommodation, from cosy beach bungalows to more spacious villas, so you can choose the style that suits you best. There is also a fantastic watersports and dive centre, perfect if you want to spend your days snorkelling, trying something new on the water or heading out by boat to explore more of the atoll.

You reach Kuredu by seaplane, which feels like part of the adventure in itself, giving you that first unforgettable glimpse of the islands from above. If you would like to chat about a Maldives escape with plenty to do as well as room to relax, I would love to help.

I just wanted to share a little “behind the scenes” of how my job works as your personal Travel Counsellor.

I’m completely self employed, which means I don’t receive a salary or get paid for my time and expertise unless I actually make the booking and my client travels. All the hours I spend searching for the right hotel, comparing options, checking rooms and putting itineraries together for you are part of the service I offer, but I’m only paid commission on confirmed trips.

So if you’ve ever wondered whether it makes a difference to book through me or then go direct online: it really does. Choosing to confirm your hotel or holiday with me supports my small business, and it means I can keep giving you that extra level of care, personal advice and after‑sales support that you don’t get from a website.
