Rome is booked for next summer and I am VERY excited.

A road trip through Europe, a van that broke down in France, and a very stressful week. So when we finally arrived for the start of our cruise, the relief was real.

Then came the hottest sea I've ever been in. Surreal. Zero chance of cooling down.

I bought a cactus there that survived a week in the van and the journey home. It's still going strong, and honestly it's a better traveller than most of us.

R is for Riga, and its Christmas market is one of Europe's best-kept festive secrets. 🎄✨

Dome Square in the Old Town, with the cathedral towering behind the stalls, plus a second market at Līvu Square. Expect mulled w**e, handmade Latvian crafts, street food and a Santa's House, where children can even write letters to Lapland. There's free ice skating nearby too, if you bring your own skates.

Running 27th November 2026 – 3rd January 2027, and entry is free. Riga is often named one of Europe's most affordable Christmas market breaks, so it's a great one if you want festive magic without the festive price tag.

The Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays, and some of the best beaches in the world. All one state.

Queensland does sunshine properly. Snorkel the reef in the morning, explore rainforest in the afternoon, and watch the sunset over white sand that genuinely looks fake in photos.

1️⃣ Beginner, intermediate or advanced: does the resort actually suit your level?
2️⃣ Self-catering, half board, or do you want the apartment sorted and food handled?
3️⃣ How far is the transfer, really?
4️⃣ Ski-in/ski-out, or happy with a short walk to the lifts?
5️⃣ Travelling with kids: is there a good ski school with English-speaking instructors?

The highest official capital city in the world, and one of the best-preserved colonial old towns in South America.

Quito is usually the gateway to the Galápagos, but it deserves a few days all on its own, cobbled streets, mountain views, and a cable car up Pichincha volcano for views that'll stop you in your tracks.
