Campbell's of Beauly

Campbell's of Beauly We specialise in countrywear, knitwear, and have our own bespoke tailoring staff, not only for the making of sporting suits, but also for more formal wear.

Campbell's of Beauly was established in 1858 by the Campbell family and is still a family run business today. We specialise in countrywear, knitwear, and have our own bespoke tailoring staff, not only for the making of sporting suits, but also for more formal wear, ladies' wear and typical Highland dress. ng, Campbell's are fortunate to have the skills of Lara Bradbeer. In our workroom behind the shop we make all our bespoke garments by hand. Every order we take is individually measured to the client, making us one of the very few tailors in Scotland offering this bespoke process and service. Campbell's specialise in sporting suits, and have a rich history in tailoring the tweeds for many sporting estates, and a long tradition of making formal Highlandwear. These include plus four's, jackets, waistcoats, skirts, trousers and kilts. In addition of the large range of tweeds and countrywear range, Campbell's of Beauly specialise in luxury British made knitwear. Sourcing only the finest qualities from the best knitting mills in Hawick, Campbell's pride ourselves in offering a premium knitwear product of the highest detail and quality. Sporting tweeds form an important part of the large selection of fabric kept in stock. Some of the designs are woven specially, and can only be obtained from Campbell's of Beauly, but the ranges in stock include tweeds of various weights from a number British of mills, all woven in the UK. Our retail shops name "The Highland Tweed House" is a testament to our experience and expertise in this specialist niche area, and the company is often referred to as the "guardians of tweed".

Munro tartan, cut into bespoke trews in our workshop.

The Clan Munro traces its origins to the northern Highlands, with strong ties to Ross-shire and lands around Foulis. A clan with a long and well recorded history, closely connected to the landscape it comes from. Campbell’s work closely with Clan Munro, ensuring the tartan is handled and presented with the care and respect it deserves.

Munro tartan is one of the more recognisable setts. A strong red ground, overlaid with green and blue, and defined by fine yellow overchecks. This particular cloth is Munro Ancient, where the colours are softened to give a more muted, time worn character. Alongside it sit the modern version, with brighter, stronger tones, and weathered variations, which take the palette further into earthy, subdued shades. Each keeps the same underlying sett, with the colour shifting the overall feel.

These trews are cut and made in our workshop, as they have been for generations. The pattern is traditional, with a higher rise and the often noted fishtail back, designed to sit cleanly when worn with braces. A central adjuster at the back allows for a precise fit, keeping the line neat through the waist.

A straightforward piece of work, grounded in long established methods.

A glimpse into the rich history of fly fishing.

This vintage Orvis chart showcases a selection of classic trout flies from the renowned American outfitter founded by Charles F. Orvis in Vermont in 1856. Long before modern materials, flies were tied by hand using feathers, silk and fur, with each pattern reflecting the skill and craftsmanship of its maker.

Scotland has its own proud fly-fishing tradition, with enduring favourites such as the Black Pennell, Kate McLaren, Zulu, March Brown, Greenwell's Glory and Silver Invicta continuing to earn their place in anglers' fly boxes today.

Like a well-made tweed jacket or a trusted fishing rod, classic trout flies are small reminders of a sporting heritage built on tradition, craftsmanship and time spent by the water.

A summer afternoon on the green.

Since 1868, Beauly Bowling Club has been part of the fabric of village life, offering a place where competition is friendly, conversation is easy and summer afternoons pass at their own pace. There is something enduringly appealing about the game, a reminder that not every sport needs to be rushed.

For days like these, our Cotton Jeans Oxford Shirt and Brushed Shetland Cable Slipover strike the right balance between comfort and refinement. The Oxford cloth shirt brings a relaxed character, while the cable knit slipover adds texture and warmth, making it an ideal companion for changeable Highland weather. Together, they create a look that feels timeless, practical and quietly confident.

Of course, every bowler knows that success depends on judgement, experience and concentration. Though a nearby can of Irn-Bru has been known to receive more credit than it deserves.

Classic menswear for the traditions that never go out of style.

A summer afternoon at the bowling club.

Founded in 1868, Beauly Bowling Club has been part of village life for well over a century, bringing generations together through one of the most relaxed and enduring summer sports. Much like boules in France or pétanque across Southern Europe, bowls is best enjoyed at an unhurried pace, in good company and under clear Highland skies.

Our Ladies' Shetland Cardigan is perfectly suited to these moments. Crafted from soft Shetland wool and finished with timeless simplicity, it offers a light layer for cooler mornings, breezy afternoons and long summer evenings. Easy to wear and effortlessly elegant, it feels equally at home on the green as it does beyond it.

And while opinions may differ on bowling technique, there is one thing every Scottish clubhouse seems to agree on: a chilled can of Irn-Bru is never far from hand.

Classic style for the simple pleasures of summer.

For our Men’s Spring/Summer 2026 lookbook, we photographed the collection at Ross County Cricket Club, an amateur cricket club based in Ross-shire in the Scottish Highlands and one of the most northerly mainland cricket clubs in Britain. The club plays its home matches in the picturesque grounds of Castle Leod near Strathpeffer and is regarded as an important part of Highland cricket culture, known for its strong community focus and recent success in North of Scotland Cricket Association competitions.
