What started as a bet with friends on bringing reverse vending machines ( deposit return scheme) from Finland to Cambridge...... 2023 ran in local elections of Newmarket and won......
Presented reverse scheme to the council Feb 24 started scheme in the area as a community partnership model.
Returns get points, points get spent in local businesses.
30.000 bottles taken out with the scheme so far, the council has become an education hub on changing behaviour and education about the upcoming DRS.
Deposit Report Scheme will become the biggest recycling rollout.
Just got to get Cambridge onboard....
2 yrs to get towns and cities ready for DRS.
It will prevent billions of bottles entering our waterways and slowly permiate to a culture of change.

Bournemouth uni are a refill campus with

Cup exchange scheme, collaborating with catering provider, exchanging a token for the reusable cups. Banned disposable cups for a week at a time. To increase uptake in the scheme.
Raised awareness and reduced some sales of non reusable items.
Plastic audits are taken with photos, and action plans are made.
