enjoyed a misty and moody autumnal flight over the weekend, followed throughout the entire flight by a meteorological phenomenon known as a Pilots Glory (with an occasional Brocken Spectre to boot!) 🌈🍂🍁

A Pilots Glory is an optical phenomenon where a circular, rainbow-like halo appears around an aircraft’s shadow on clouds, caused by the backscattering of sunlight by tiny water droplets in the atmosphere. Pretty special, huh?!

At one time a fairly common site over the town and surrounding area. Scotair was founded in 1992 by local man Graeme Houston. It was Scotland's first passenger ride operator using balloons.

The company is still operating but concentrates it's efforts mainly on corporate branding and events. It also works in the field of Aerial Filming amongst others.

The photograph dates to before 2001.
