The field opposite Drovers is called Jinlye Meadows, and it is abundant with wildflowers this time of year 💐

Jinlye Meadows is part of a nature conservation programme called “Stepping Stones” which covers over 200km² in the Shropshire Hills. This programme is creating more, bigger and better spaces for wildlife, and linking them with wildlife ‘corridors’. The project is led by the National Trust but involves a number of partners, including The Wildlife Trusts, Natural England and Shropshire Hills National Landscape.

Jinlye Meadows is “now a species-rich grassland, alive with pollinators and insects” such as the rare bilberry bumblebee. Yellow rattle seed, known as the ‘Meadow Maker’, is a critical plant species for the creation of a successful wildflower meadow and is now being collected from Jinlye Meadows and sown elsewhere to create more healthlands.
