Just back from an amazing, jam-packed week exploring some incredible parts of Italy with Towns of Italy Tour Operator, who were fantastic hosts throughout.
First stop was Florence - such a beautiful and walkable city. Some of the main highlights were the stunning Duomo, the iconic Ponte Vecchio and seeing Michelangeloโs David in person. Just a great place to wander around the cobbled streets, enjoy an Aperol Spritz or two and plenty of gelato. We also had a tour of the famous wine windows and did a thoroughly enjoyable pizza and gelato making evening - I somehow managed to do a decent job of it. ๐๐จ
Then on to Rome ๐๏ธ Honestly, my brain is still struggling to comprehend just how much history there is there. We had some fantastic walking tours around the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Vatican City. Other must-sees would be the Trevi Fountain (maybe go a little earlier in the day), the beautiful Spanish Steps and probably my favourite, the Pantheon. We also did a brilliant walking food tour which ended in one of my favourite areas of the city - Trastevere ๐๐ท Such a cool, laid-back part of Rome with loads of buzzing little bars, restaurants and people just out enjoying themselves. Still so much left to see and do. I was genuinely surprised by how much I loved Rome.
Finally, we headed down to Naples. Definitely more hectic and noisy, but still full of charm, especially around the harbour front. The food was unbelievable - iconic Neapolitan pizza and mozzarella ๐คค We also did a fantastic day trip to Pompeii which is genuinely somewhere everyone should visit at least once.
All in all, an amazing week - plenty of walking, food and history. Getting around the country is so easy as well thanks to Italyโs fantastic rail network. Every time I visit, I come back thinking what a special country it is to visit, no matter where you go๐ฎ๐นโจ
The best part is how tailor made it can all be, especially with a multi-centre trip. There are so many other amazing places you can add as well - the Amalfi Coast, the Tuscan countryside, the Lakes, the Dolomites, Venice, Verona, Bologna, Milan, Cinque Terreโฆ the list genuinely goes on and on. Italy is truly spoilt.
Then when you add in experiences like private walking tours, food tours, cooking classes and other unique local touches, it really takes the trip to another level. Huge thanks again to Towns of Italy, who were incredible throughout. I know I am supposed to be bias but honestly, if youโre thinking about Italy for your next holiday, you really couldnโt be in safer hands booking it all with us ๐ฎ๐นโจ
Ciao! ๐ค
