This particular itinerary is rated **Physical Level 2 – Moderate**.
There is walking on uneven ground, long drives and periods of rough-road 4WD travel, but the more strenuous elements — such as climbing the Gobi dunes — are optional. Outside Ulaanbaatar, accommodation is largely in ger camps, with facilities becoming more basic in remote areas.
