stuff going on at the studio, the first two pics are previews of a piece I'm working on, quite a complex headstone in Kirby Cumbrian slate. The head was carved by Stephen from his own design, and lettering by David, both on the last weekend course

This is Trewint Cavalier IV, TC to his friends. A South Devonshire sire who lives in Trenewan in Cornwall. This relief is carved from Cumbrian slate and shows how (I think) relief is so much better than a picture - it changes as you move around it.

These are photos from the September carving workshop at RHS Rosemoor. A really welcoming and inspiring place. This took place over two days and it was great to see such accomplished carvings emerge from complete beginners.

'Night Sky, Clouds across the Moon'

There is nothing like an exhibition deadline to focus the mind and get those pieces finished. This is one of a number of new pieces for an exhibition at whitewatergallery.co.uk in Polzeath in July and August. This will feature paintings by Suki Wapshott, porcelain by Hugh West and a selection of my recent sculpture.  Expect abstracts, animals, bees and flowers, all created from and celebrating the rich geology of the British Isles

This is the latest commission, for a garden in Surrey. The brief was for something to reflect the cycle of life and to symbolise a precious memory, a challenging brief, I think. This is the response in Portland limestone, bit of an Eastern thing going on here. Also, I've just been reading Carlo Ravelli's book on physics and have been musing on how to imagine the shape of a 3-sphere. All good fun.
