Pushing through the rain to get this roof prepped and bulletproof ☔️

Quick breakdown on the project:

Fully stripped, battened & felt support trays fitted New GRP wet valley tray & tilt corrected
Servicing & adjusting the 3-year-old gutter system to
correct falls
Chimneys getting raked out, repointed, granite-capped, with 4 new 12” terracotta pots & welded lead flashings

Finishing off with Black Crest double Roman German
tiles, crest ridges, and black Manthorpe dry verges

When a Roof Repair Goes Wrong… 🏠

As you can see, previous repairs carried out on this roof were completely inadequate.

Instead of replacing the damaged tiles with full tiles, they’ve used top course/eaves tiles to replace full-size tiles. This is simply not the correct way to carry out the repair and will almost certainly lead to water ingress.

The video explains exactly what we’ve found — as they say, a picture paints a thousand words! 🎥

Unfortunately, we’re coming across this standard of workmanship more and more. Roofing is a skilled trade, and there really is no substitute for experience. A roofer who has spent decades learning their trade knows how to identify problems and carry out repairs properly, rather than simply covering them up.

Don’t cut corners when it comes to your roof — get the job done properly the first time. 👷‍♂️

Here we’re using the smaller version to pull the battens off the roof quickly and easily. It gets underneath the battens and pulls them up with minimal effort, helping to take the strain off your back.

Another job wrapped up in Heaton! 🛠️

Complete ridge overhaul with fresh black mortar, valleys stripped and re-pointed, replaced damaged tiles, and finished off with a sleek black Manthorpe dry verge system on the rear gable.

Clean finish, solid protection, and another very happy customer.

Giving this roof decades of extra life! 🙌
