⁠📍Faversham, Kent
Food, touristy things, food, touristy things, food….. you get the drift of day 2 🤣⁠
⁠
We had a lazy morning with a cup of tea,toast & local honey at The Hopper Huts and set out on our day mid morning. Arriving in Faversham, like every adventure, we had to start with finding the best local artisan coffee. ⁠
⁠
☕️ was a cute little stop for a coffee and pastry before we headed out on our Town walk heritage trail. ⁠
⁠
🗺️ Learn about the history of Faversham and soak in the architecture of the old market town. Weave down the old streets and finish at Standard Quay where you can have a pit stop at the cafe, buy supplies at the butchers to take back to the Hopper Huts, snoop through the antiques shops or stop of for a cheeky pizza ⁠
⁠
🥪 Lunch or coffee stop at Mooch around the speciality foods, stop for lunch in their cafe or buy lots and lots of cheese like we did. 🧀🐭⁠
⁠
🚶‍♀️After a lot of food so far, lets walk it off around the grounds and estate of 🌳 or Oare Gunpowder Park. ⁠

🍽️ Finish off the day Firepit restaurant🔥(again super close to where we were staying at The Hopper huts) in the summer we would recommend a walk to the Firepit would be lovely. Very different to the country vibe of the weekend but never the less the food was gooooood! 👌🏼⁠

Here is our day 1 Itinerary for Kent. So much to do we couldn’t fit in everything we wanted to do so will have to go back soon. ⁠

👨‍🌾 Check out Favershams weekly market. Bustling market street with some alfresco dining and cafes to sit with a coffee or glass of wine is a good people watching spot. 👀⁠
⁠
🥾Walk the country lanes to Sondes tea rooms and General stores. This is a place not to be missed! We were recommended this by as it is 10 min walk from there. If you love you tea, as most us brits do, then you just got to go here! ☕️ plus you can stock up on all your supplies for to take back to the huts⁠
⁠
🍽️ Dinner at The White Horse in Boughton-under-Blean . We had the most gorgeous gastro pub meal here and highly recommend this as a place to visit. Less than a 5 min drive from or in the summer you can take the local footpaths straight into the village.⁠

😴 You absolutely have to stay at the gorgeous [gifted] beautiful huts in an amazing setting with all the home comforts and mod cons yet steeped in so much history. We enjoyed coming back here to chill on the sofa with a glass of red 🍷to finish off our perfect first day in Kent.⁠

Lay back and chill in these beautiful, contemporary, yet full of history hopper huts in Kent. ⁠
⁠
These huts made the perfect Staycation for exploring more of Kent. Perfectly situated in the Kent countryside to feel a million miles away from city life, yet so close to some Kent hotspots such as Faversham, Canterbury and Whitstable which are so worth a visit. 🦪⛪️⁠
⁠
The huts, originally built to house all the eastender hop pickers, have maintained the simple elegance of the original dwellings but have all the mod cons we all really want when we are treating ourselves to a break away. Not to mention, we absolutely love the interior design, we think the reel above speaks for itself ⬆️⁠

🥾Surrounded by footpaths for all those countryside walks, (to and from a pub of course) and not forgetting the brilliant Sondes Tea rooms and General stores to stock up on all your supplies. We loved the location as there was so much to do around the local area, we couldn’t fit everything we wanted to do in the few days so will have to venture back this way soon.⁠
⁠
🛏️ . This place hits the spot for everything, whether it be a romantic get away, trip with friends or a family friendly trip. With 1 or 2 bed huts or rent out all 4 to get the whole family together.⁠

We’re only 15 minutes from Whitstable Castle where you’ll find beautiful landscaped gardens, tea rooms and seasonal markets, events and craft fairs 🏰

Hop stringing has started.
It’s officially the beginning of the hop growing season.
Ask a hop stringer ‘how’s it going?’ and the age old reply will be ‘up and down.’

From the 1920’s to the 1950’s, up to 200,000 East-Enders, mostly women and children, made the annual trip to the Kentish hop gardens, filling the 'Hopper’s Special’ trains which left from London Bridge station in the early hours of the morning.
Here are the hop pickers disembarking the train at Selling Station, to continue their journey to our farm and to stay in The Hopper Huts.
Today, Selling station is still on the London to Dover line, making many interesting stops, including our lovely market town of Faversham and the historic city of Canterbury, to name a few.
