Our new clean team no longer offer scones and jam, but are happy to throw in a bottle of fizz, some biscuits and crisps and fresh milk for teas and coffees for you to celebrate your arrival 🍾

Edited highlights from a glorious long weekend, June ‘26

We wanted to go to Tunnels Beach in Ilfracombe, a sheltered rocky beach with a sea pool. But it was closed (permanently?) due to a rock fall. Instead, we went to nearby Hele Bay where my daughter and a friend went rockpooling for hours.

I had as lovely swim (until I saw a little jelly fish!) then we came back for wine and takeaway fish and chips at a neighbours!

Our holiday was short and sweet, and once we’d packed up the house, we went for our transitional stop Quince Honey Farm before hitting the end of half term traffic.

The roses are beautiful- and the honey worth stocking up on!

Highlights from the lovely Mia hairdressers in Braunton (they do a lovely tea!) Then off to beautiful for a spot of rock pooling, a quick dip and some yummy curry from Barricane Beach Cafe. Perfick!

I say it every May half term, but who needs Spain? Wonderful lunch as always at The Worx Braunton (sorry I fiddled with my food before taking a pic) but after a morning of little jobs, it’s always such a nice treat. And the sun trap terrace out the back always feels like HOLI-YAY!

Country Maids I asked for clean. What I got was spotless 🙌 for taking the brief and nailing it!

Just what we need after a long drive down.
Need to find out where the gardener’s disappeared to though, as it’s rather overgrown!!!

Can’t recommend enough!! 😀😀😀

Looking forward to spending the tail end of the May half term at Mims’ Cottage, Braunton, North Devon!

On the list to do are: visiting the new Amelie’s cafe!
- Beach- obvs. Puttsborough is our fave. Or, the sheltered sea pool at Tunnels Beaches near Ilfracombe
- Heading to Barricane Beach Cafe for a curry
-Brunch in The Worx Braunton and cocktails in Bambu
- haircut and highlights at Rockey's
- *maybe* looking for the Secret Sauna
And of course, fish and chips (or fish curry) at Squires Fish Restaurant

That’s about all we can cram into a short weekend. Can’t wait!

A few days at the beach is good for the soul- but what’s this? ,
Not at Mims’ Cottage, Braunton, North Devon? Not this time!

I was staying at a dear friend 44 Upper Fourth, Frinton on sea, for a glorious May bank holiday. Hope to return the favour soon!
