Over the Coals Productions

Over the Coals Productions Over the coals is a production company creating and producing theatre!

Theatre Company 57 are actors and tutors within Bristol and the South West who are teaching in; Schools, Youth Clubs, Gyms, Colleges, Universities, and Leisure Centers. We are Producing shows with young people that have been performed at Parabola Arts Centre, Chambers of commerce and the Old Vic Bristol. This has given Theatre Company 57 sound experience in making connections by communicating with

local youth groups, high quality experienced artists, schools and the local people. We feel the ability to talk, listen, learn and relate to the young has to always be evolving and improving to stay with the times- we find this exciting, challenging and rewarding. Theatre Company 57 are also developing their own performance work and hope to have their current project ready later this year.

In this week-long intensive, you will explore physical theatre and devising techniques Vatic use to create their shows. Participants will experience what it is like to train, play, question and devise as part of the company. Part of the training will involve working site-specifically, exploring how Vatic’s work is influenced by nature, architecture and the world outside the theatre. There will be a small sharing at the end of the week with an invited audience of industry professionals.

The residency is suitable for actors who want to explore movement, dancers, choreographers, directors and other arts professionals or students who have some experience of movement training.

Vatic is a Norwich-based physical theatre company, who create multi-disciplinary creative projects to bring climate science and communities closer together. They launched in 2023 with ‘Norwich Under the Water’ performed in the cloisters of Norwich Cathedral. The company is led by experienced performers, choreographers and practitioners Sophie Utting and Ben Nash.

Cost: £250 for the 5 days.

Try before you buy: Not sure if this intensive residency is for you? Then come along to a free taster workshop on Wednesday 30th April, 6.30-9pm at Stage Two, Norwich Theatre.

To register for the free taster workshop and apply for the residency, contact [email protected]. Send your CV and a brief cover letter outlining why you would like to attend.

Please share this opportunity with anyone you think may be interested.

The last scratch piece for Embers !!!

Is SHUSH

An exert from research and development in 2021-2022. It's written by Ryan Murphy and performed by Maia Ayling.
SHUSH is a new piece of theatre that explores degenerative hearing loss and the diminishment of sound through music, circus and physical theatre. A show exploring cultural boundary and social identity; existing between worlds, and belonging to neither. Highlighting the silent, undefined connections that we all share, where the loudest actions are lost in translation, and the tiniest looks become deafening.

No Woman is an Island

A one person show starring Roz following her heartfelt rollercoaster ride to success. This piece is full of heartbreak and laughter in a dark, gritty and hard-hitting drama that looks at addiction, homelessness and gender
