Positive Puffin news!

We’re thrilled to announce another record-breaking year on Skomer Island with 52,019 Puffins recorded this spring.

Puffin numbers are declining at many sites around the UK, but Skomer bucks the trend – and it’s thanks to our long-term monitoring work that we know this.

Our annual counts are a core part of conservation work on Skomer. They help us to better understand how our seabird populations are changing both locally and nationally. This data helps us to inform our conservation work so we can better protect these special seabirds.

Broad Haven 1 - 1 Camrose

Our first team got their season underway last night with a tightly contested game against Camrose 2nds, which ended in a 1-1 draw. After a tough season last year that saw us relegated from Division 2, it was vital we stuck together and looked to get back on track this year.

Both sides had chances to take the lead but couldn’t quite convert. Both goalkeepers produced some great saves to keep their teams in it. We finally broke the deadlock late on, with Spencer Le-Petit putting us ahead in the 88th minute. We thought that might be enough to secure all three points, but Camrose struck back deep into stoppage time, with Scott Chalmers equalising in the 93rd minute to earn them a deserved point.

It’s always a sucker punch to concede so late, but in the end, a draw was probably a fair result for both teams.

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you Thursday evening as our 2nds take on Milford Utd 3rds in their Division 5 opener.
