Thinking about walking the Offa's D**e Path? 🥾

Our latest blog shares a more relaxed way to experience one of the UK’s most iconic long-distance walking routes - without the pressure of completing all 177 miles.

Located near Kington on the Welsh border, Ty Grug Pods offers simple, comfortable camping pods just a short drive from the trail making it easy to explore sections of Offa’s D**e at your own pace.

Instead of moving accommodation every night, you can:

Walk scenic sections of Offa’s D**e Path
Take in the views across the Welsh borders
And return to a peaceful base each evening

It’s a simple, more flexible way to enjoy walking in Wales at your own pace, with somewhere peaceful to return to each day.

We opened on 1st April and it’s been lovely to welcome our first guests back. Even better… our first review is in and it’s safe to say they enjoyed their stay.

Cosy, warm, clean, and plenty of space to relax with walks by the River Wye and the Beacons just a short drive away.

They even had Storm Dave while they were here…and it still didn’t ruin the stay ☺️

Always nice to know people are leaving happy (and already planning to come back).

🐑 It started in January… and the sheep clearly didn’t get the memo.

Lambing season is supposed to begin in March.

Ours had other ideas.

We’ve already welcomed early arrivals, scanned this year’s numbers (they’re looking very lively 👀), and even taken on a tiny bottle-fed lamb who’s completely stolen the show.

It’s the real, behind-the-scenes side of life on a working Welsh hill farm - unpredictable, full-on, and honestly… a bit magical.

If you’ve ever wondered what lambing season is actually like (not the postcard version), we’ve shared the full story here 👇

And if you’re thinking about a spring escape…
Our pods open 1st April, right in the middle of it all — lambs in the fields, fresh air, and views you don’t get from a hotel window.

28/02/2026

February finishes in true Welsh fashion… snow, rain and a field currently doing its best impression of a lake. ❄️🌧️

Real countryside. Real seasons.

And right in the middle of it all… snowdrops pushing through the snow. Spring is closer than it looks.

March brings lambing season on the farm - early mornings, new arrivals and the hills slowly shifting back to green.

Then in April, we reopen our doors.

If you’re ready for:

🌿 A peaceful countryside break in Mid Wales
🌿 Fresh air and wide open views
🌿 Quiet mornings and dark night skies
🌿 A proper switch-off before the summer rush

Now’s the time to book your spring escape.

The snow will melt.
The lambs will arrive.
And the Spring landscape will come to life.

April dates are now open.

22/02/2026

Winter hasn’t quite finished with us yet…

The pods are covered in snow, the fields are white and right through it all, daffodils and snowdrops are pushing up anyway 🌼

That’s the thing about this place.
It never really stands still.

We’re closed until 1st April, but this is what Ty Grug looks like right now - raw, beautiful and already shifting toward spring.

Not long now.

Every stay, every detail, every warm welcome… it all matters. And knowing that our guests have taken the time to share their experiences means the world.

We may be tucked away in peaceful countryside, but we work hard to make sure every visit feels thoughtful, comfortable and memorable.

To everyone who has stayed with us, recommended us, or left a kind review - thank you.

Here’s to many more cosy stays, countryside escapes and happy memories.

Most of us know Ribena as a childhood staple.
What far fewer people realise is that almost all of the blackcurrants used to make it are grown right here in Britain - and that the journey starts years before a single berry is picked.

That story is happening right next door to Ty Grug Pods, on the working farm that surrounds them.

From the original Baldwin variety, through modern Ben varieties bred in Scotland, to the quiet, patient work that happens long before fruit is ever harvested - it’s a fascinating part of British farming history that often goes unseen.
