This weekend I’ll be lining up once again for one of the quirkiest, toughest and most beautiful races out there. Man v Horse in Llanwrtyd Wells.
23 miles, 4,330 ft of climbing and 4,220 ft of descent over Welsh hills,
I’ve run it a few times now, but the mix of nerves and excitement never really goes away.
The race starts in Llanwrtyd Wells
Man v Horse, the World Bog Snorkelling Championships, organised walks, fishing, mountain biking, an annual beer festival, the Real Ale Ramble and countless other wonderfully eccentric events.
For me, this race captures everything I love about the outdoors: community, challenge, stunning landscapes and a healthy dose of Welsh mud and humour.
Whether you are cheering from the side-lines or toeing your own start line this weekend, here is to pushing boundaries and embracing adventures that make great stories later.
Wish me luck. I will definitely need it against the horses!
