Lowther Castle, in the heart of the Lake District, was built at the turn of the 19th century. The castle boasted a room for every day of the year, with spectacular gardens.

Despite being demolished in 1957, Lowther Castle still has plenty to offer all ages with dramatic ruins, gardens within gardens, and an adventure playground for younger visitors. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome.

Despite the idyllic setting, Lowther Castle is easy to reach by car. The M6 (Junction 39) is less than 10 miles and 15 minutes away.
