The East Lancashire Railway is a 12 1⁄2-mile heritage railway line in north west England running between Heywood in Greater Manchester and Rawtenstall with intermediate stations at Bury Bolton Street, Burrs Country Park, Summerseat, Ramsbottom and Irwell Vale.
Combine a train ride with a trip on the Bury Transport Museum a free museum housing a range of railway memorabilia and vehicles including trams, buses and trolleybuses.
The railway is easily reached by car and public transport, Heywood is a short drive from the M60 motorway and Bury Bolton Street is in walking distance of the Metrolink tram terminus.
