My Story Starts With a Friend Called Steve 👋

My friend Steve, originally from Cardiff but now living in the beautiful Aegean coastal town of Kuşadası, Turkey, faced the same problem many of us do — dental implants in Britain were simply unaffordable. So he took the plunge and went to Turkey for his treatment. And while he was staying at his hotel during recovery, he met a wonderful Turkish lady. One year later, they were married! 💍
Steve helped me when I needed it most, and now I'm simply passing that favour on to you.

How It All Worked ✈️

Steve advised me to book a direct four hour flight from Bristol to Izmir Airport, where he and his wife were waiting to meet me. He had already booked a hotel right on the beachfront in Kuşadası and sent me a video of the room so I knew exactly what to expect.

The next morning, he picked me up and drove me just ten minutes down the road to the dentist — someone I had already been chatting with on WhatsApp before I even left home. From the very start, it felt organised, personal and stress free.

My Treatment 🦷

My treatment lasted around three hours. I needed my four existing upper jaw implants removed — implants that had been wrongly fitted in Cardiff back in 2021 at a cost of £14,000. The dentist also extracted four lower jaw teeth, carried out bone grafting, and fitted four new upper jaw implants and six lower jaw implants.

I'll be honest — the only discomfort I felt was from having the old implants removed. Everything else? Absolutely fine. The care, the hygiene and the professionalism were outstanding.
Afterwards, Steve was waiting at a nearby café to drive me back to the hotel, and I spent the rest of the week enjoying a lovely holiday in beautiful Kuşadası. 🌊☀️
When it was time to go home, Steve picked me up and drove me back to Izmir Airport for my flight to Bristol.

Three Months Later... 😁

I flew back to Izmir for my final appointments to have my new teeth fitted. Same hotel, same warm welcome from Steve, another wonderful stay in Kuşadası — and I came home with a brand new smile.

Now For The Part That Will Shock You 💰
The treatment I needed was quoted at between £38,000 and £42,000 in Cardiff. On top of that, I had already wasted £14,000 on botched implants in 2021.

Two Years of Dental Hell — and Why I Flew to Turkey to Fix It

If you're struggling with dental costs and care in the UK, please read this. It might save you a fortune.

In 2022, I paid a Cardiff dentist £14,000 for upper jaw implants — an "All on 4" solution. Instead of standard screw fixings, I was talked into spike abutments held with cement. Within weeks, the denture fell out. Then again. And again. Every few months, I ended up back at the dentist with the same problem.

When I challenged the practice, they pointed the finger at the treating dentist, who had quietly left, leaving a trail of unhappy patients behind. Legal threats went nowhere.

Eventually, another Cardiff dentist re-cemented it for £80, which held for about a year — until he found a misaligned implant made a proper refit impossible. That was the end of that.

No teeth. And anyone who's been there knows it's not just a dental problem — it's an everything problem. Confidence, eating, and basic daily life.

Three more consultations later, at £150 a time, the verdict was brutal: I needed full removal of all four implants, a sinus lift, bone grafting, and ten new implants. Quotes came in at £38,000 to £42,000. On top of the £14,000 already wasted. Rip-off Britain doesn't even cover it.

Then, out of nowhere, I reconnected with an old friend. Three years earlier, he'd flown to Turkey for implants and met his now-wife there in the process. Her close friend owns a dental practice in Kuşadası, a beautiful town on the Turkish Aegean coast.

My friend in Kusadasi introduced me to their dentist via WhatsApp, and she assured me that all would be well. I booked a flight from Bristol, my son came with me, and my friend handled everything: airport pickup, hotel, and transport to the surgery. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was different. Immaculate hygiene, a full CT scan, a thorough explanation, and a price that showed how I was being ripped off in the UK.

Three months later, I flew back for the final fitting. I now have a smile I'm proud of without remortgaging my house.
