After being away for a month on the most incredible, life-changing trip, I’ve finally come home and started catching up on our travel monthly newsletter… ✈️

Only to discover that I’ve been named in the TOP 10 Independent Travel Agents in our team for July! 🤯

Honestly, I’m SO proud of this.

It’s such a lovely reminder that the hard work really does pay off, even when you don’t always see the results straight away. 🥹

But perhaps what makes me most excited is that this was the first time I actually took my business away with me. 🌍💻

Being away for a month really proved to me that you can build a business around your life, rather than putting your life on hold for your business.

And the funny thing is, I never actually thought I was a “business person” before I started this. 😂

I didn’t have all the answers. I didn’t have a business background. I simply decided to take a chance on myself and see where it could take me.

And now, here I am… TOP 10 in July! 🥹

Before I started in the travel business, I believed half of these myths too.

There are so many assumptions about working in travel… so let’s clear a few things up 👇

Myth: You have to be a travel expert.
Reality: You learn as you go, with training and support.

Myth: It’s over-saturated.
Reality: People are travelling more than ever… and many prefer booking with a real person they trust.

Myth: It’s all about selling.
Reality: It’s about helping people plan incredible experiences and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Myth: You have to quit your job to do it.
Reality: Most people start alongside their current job and build it at their own pace.

Myth: Travel agents are outdated.
Reality: When flights get cancelled, plans change, or you need guidance… suddenly having a real person in your corner becomes priceless.

For me, this business isn’t just about travel.
It’s about freedom, flexibility, and helping people explore the world in a way that feels exciting and accessible.

And honestly… I still get just as excited about planning trips as I do taking them ✈️🌍

Another trip booked ✈️🌍

And this one is heading somewhere a little bit magical…

🇲🇦 Marrakech, Morocco.

Think vibrant souks, rooftop sunsets, rich culture, incredible food, and colours you don’t quite believe until you see them with your own eyes.

This booking was a little different too. My customer had actually already stayed at this hotel before, loved it, and knew exactly where she wanted to go back to.

She just wanted the extra security and reassurance of booking through a travel agent… and chose to support a small local travel business while doing it 🤍

Sometimes it’s not about finding somewhere new.
Sometimes it’s about going back to somewhere that already feels a little bit special.

Some places don’t shout for attention… they just quietly exist in their own strength 🇧🇳

We were lucky enough to spend a short time in Brunei Darussalam, which literally means “Abode of Peace,” and honestly, that’s exactly how it felt.

Calm.
Clean streets.
Golden domes just part of everyday life.
Rainforest stretching out in every direction.

Brunei became fully independent in 1984 and is still one of the few absolute monarchies in the world, led by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. For such a small country, it’s incredibly wealthy because of its oil and gas reserves, and there’s no personal income tax for residents, which still amazes me, and many of its citizens!

Around 70 percent of the country is protected rainforest, including Ulu Temburong National Park, often called the Green Jewel of Brunei.

Watching the sunset at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque was one of those simple but special moments. Families sitting on the grass together. Children running around. The sky turning gold behind the dome. It felt peaceful in a way that’s hard to explain.

Istana Nurul Iman, the largest residential palace in the world with nearly 1,800 rooms, stands so quietly behind its gates, yet holds so much presence.

And then there’s Kampong Ayer, the water village that’s been there for over 1,000 years, where homes and schools sit above the river and life just flows.

Brunei might be small, but its faith, traditions and identity feel strong and deeply rooted.

We’re really grateful we got to experience even a small glimpse of it.

It’s a very sad day hearing about the changes at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach near Vík, Iceland 🖤🌊

Recent winter storms, continuous easterly winds and heavy surf have dramatically reshaped the coastline. Large sections of sand have been stripped away. The shoreline has shifted. Areas that once felt wide and expansive are now steeper, narrower and closer to the surf. Parts of the beach are even difficult, if not impossible, to access.

I remember standing there a few years ago, feeling so small against that wild Icelandic coastline. The black sand beneath my feet. The basalt columns rising behind me. The crashing waves that demand respect. It felt powerful. Untamed. Unapologetic.

Places like that leave a mark on you. They become part of your story. And if you know me, you’ll know how much Iceland is part of mine. Some places are more than just destinations. They are moments in time that shape you.

Nature is powerful, unpredictable and ever changing. Iceland doesn’t preserve landscapes for our itineraries. It reminds us who is in control. And while the landscape may shift, the memories remain. I’ll forever be grateful I got to witness that beauty in its full glory.

If you’ve been before, the difference now is noticeable. If you’re going soon, know that it may not look like the photos you saved.

The beach may have changed, but what it gave us hasn’t.

Places evolve here. That is part of loving Iceland. We don’t just visit it. We witness it. ✨️🤍
