We had a big family gathering here at Plas y Wern and stocked up with a feast from Tom Samways Butchers in Cardigan. 🍔🌭🥩

Burgers, a great selection of flavoured sausages, steak, ribs and marinated chicken – everything was absolutely fantastic!

Highly recommend them if you’re looking for top-quality local produce during your stay. 🌿✨

We tried out Pizza Tipi in Cardigan last night and absolutely loved it! 🍕

✨ The food was excellent, and the whole place has such a lovely, informal and laid-back rustic charm.

Perfect spot if you’re looking for great food in a relaxed atmosphere right by the river.

Just minutes from Plas Y Wern Holidays, Mwnt Beach is more than golden sands and turquoise waters. Between the tides, the beach becomes a vast canvas for large-scale sand art celebrating the Celtic year.

From the summit of Foel y Mwnt, enjoy sweeping views over Cardigan Bay, then explore the 14th-century Church of the Holy Cross, a treasured sailors’ chapel and medieval pilgrimage stop. Mwnt also carries the memory of the dramatic “Red Sunday” of 1155, when Flemish invaders were repelled in a bloody clash.

🐾 Dog owners: No dogs allowed on the beach May 1 – Sept 30, but welcome Oct 1 – Apr 30 for scenic seaside walks.

The Perseids Meteor Shower is here – but the real magic happens tomorrow and the next day – Tuesday 12th August and Wednesday 13th August 🌌 Expect up to 100 shooting stars an hour if the skies stay clear!

📅 When: Running until Sunday, 24th August 2025
⏰ Best viewing: Midnight to early dawn (1am–4am is perfect)
📍 Where: Anywhere in the UK – just find a dark, open spot away from street lights

💫 TOP TIPS TO SEE THEM AT THEIR BEST:
🔭 Look Northeast – the meteors will radiate from the Perseus constellation
🌌 Avoid light pollution – the darker your spot, the better
👀 Let your eyes adjust – give it at least 20 mins for night vision to kick in
🛋 Get comfy – blankets, a flask, maybe even sun bed.

📸 Want to capture them on your phone?

Switch to Night Mode (look for the little moon icon)

Keep your phone completely still – use a tripod, stand, or rest it on a flat surface

The longer the exposure, the better chance of catching a streak of light

The Perseids happen when Earth passes through a trail of dust from Comet Swift-Tuttle – those tiny particles hit our atmosphere and burn up, creating spectacular streaks of light across the sky.
