The Old Police House is your very own piece of history, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and only 25 minutes from the National Trust Lake District.

Built in 1853 to house the local constable for Kirkby Lonsdale and the surrounding area, the house retains many original features including a Victorian fireplace, exposed beams and stone oven surround.

With a rolltop bath, three bedrooms, and a secure courtyard garden you have the perfect base from which to explore the best of English natural beauty.

Spring 🪻🌷⚘️🌼🌾🌿

The best place to be during spring is the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Long hikes, stunning views, an abundance of wildlife, cute little lambs, wild flowers, birdsong, waterfalls, beautiful streams with stepping stones, misty sunny mornings and pub gardens are just some of the reasons that the Dale's are at their best during spring time 🐣

We are also only 35 minutes from Ambleside in the Lake District, also full of amazing hikes, stunning views and even boat trips across the water.

The coast at Arnside AONB (an area of outstanding natural beauty) is also only 30 minutes away 🌼

If you're taking children/ teenagers to The Old Police House this year there is plenty of things around to keep them amused.

Ingleton waterfall trail is less than 10 minutes away and makes a great day out.
Ambleside in the Lake District is only 35 minutes away and you can get a boat trip across Windermere to Wray castle. Beatrix potter world is also in Ambleside.
We have caves close by.... Ingleborough Cave is only 20 minutes away and the White scar caves only 10 minutes from us.
Beautiful Malham isn't far away and is an absolute must see.... kids will enjoy the beautiful scenery, gordale scar, the cove, stepping stones and can look for fairies 🧚‍♂️ 🧚🧚‍♀️(and the witch in the cave) at Janet's Foss 🧙
There are farms, National trust properties, treetop adventures and climbing nearby.... something for all ages 💛

If you are staying at the Old Police House this year be sure to visit 🧡

Trow Gill is a spectacular limestone gorge that was possibly once an underground cavern formed by waters which now take an alternative route through the Ingleborough Cave / Gaping Gill system.

Trow Gill can be reached from Clapham by following the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail, then the footpath to the cave and beyond. It's a little bit of a trek up here, but it's worth it! 💚 Fancy seeing this place for yourself?

There are plenty of lovely places to eat close to the cottage. We are lucky to have the Cowan Bridge Tearoom right next to us where you can grab a lovely breakfast, lunch or tea and cake.
The Highwayman is literally minutes away by car. Its one of our favourite places to eat and is great for all ages (and dogs). A former coaching inn with contemporary decor ,open fireplaces and great food.
In nearby Kirkby Lonsdale there are also a variety of great places to eat from the Kings hotel restaurant, Platos, The crossing point cafe, The snooty fox, The Sun Inn, Botanica, Number 44 , Number nine the bakery or even just an ice cream at the Milking parlour you will be spoilt for choice. Most are also dog friendly 🐾🐾
