Mikala Hinsby's Childminding I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder and take children from 0-4 years old (school ready). I am within walking distance to the local station

I offer government funding for all age groups and accept tax free childcare. I have been an Ofsted registered childminder for the last two and a half years. Back in 1997 I became qualified with my BTEC Early Years Childcare diploma and went on to work in private nurseries within their baby rooms. From there I did a year working with an agency gaining further experience with different age early yea

rs children. In 2001 I started working in a local authority nursery in inner London where I spent then next 12 years. During my time there I worked with children ranging from 18mths right through to 5, I was also head of the Special Educational Needs department. Since becoming a childminder I have looked after children ranging from 1 year old all the way through to 9 at present. From September I will have vacancies for children under 5 on a variety of days. I also drop off and collect from Warren Primary and have vacancies for both before and after school drop off and collection as well as holiday cover. Please feel free to contact me t find out if I am able to help.

We were initially creating a special gift ready for the weekend, once finished one little lady requested that she wanted to "paint hands". We painted, we squished, we splatted, we mixed and absolutely loved exploring the paint 🎨 😍

For the children were asked to bring in their favourite books to share with their friends. All books were enjoyed by everyone and it was lovely to see the children sharing.
We have also had great fun this week playing with our new sensory tiles.

It's an extreamly multicultural week, today we have learnt all about Ramadan. The older children carried out a bit of research to find out all about the festival and how it's celebrated. We also made an moon and stars decoration celebrating the beginning of Ramadan. The children also wanted to bake so we decided to make some stars to go with our crafts.

What a very busy first day to half term. We started with a trip to Sainsbury's to buy the ingredients and toppings for our pancakes which we had after lunch. We talked about having things like fruit as well as treats on them as it's extreamly important to have a balaned diet and a little treat every now and then is nice 😊.
For dinner we had chicken cow mein and egg fried rice, the chow mein was preferred over the rice. This was in celebration of the start of the Luna New Year. We watched JoJo and grangran which got us talking about the festival, why red and gold are so special and the lucky money bags which we will be talking about more tomorrow.

This morning we made love hearts for those special people in our lives, because everyone needs a little reminder that they are loved 😍.
Once we had finished playing we listened to our favourite tidy up song and everyone is starting to make the connection that when the song comes on toys need to go into the boxes. Tidying up, no matter how young everyone is helps with both responsibility and independence as well as encouraging everyone to take care of their belongings and when its made fun and done along with music everyone enjoys themselves.

Less was definitely more today. With just one little one we chose to bring the trains and magnetic tiles indoors. This little lady has been so engrossed in her play today its been lovely to watch, support and extend her learning. We've created tracks, worked out how to put them together and problem solved how to attach pieces to create a bridge. The magnetic tiles were then incorporated to build a tunnel which unfortunately wouldn't stay so we built a dance floor, we found different colours, talked about the varying shapes and worked out how we could connect them all together. We then went for a lovely walk with friends.

This morning we played peek-a-boo under the table and blankets which everyone found funny. We also had lots of fun with the magnets and the cup tree. There has been lots of positional language used today, words like forwards, backwards, top, bottom and under.
Some great development of personal independence with the little ones holding their own spoons and learning to feed themselves 😍

On this damp and cold day we danced, wiggled and sung to our favourite songs both with the support from the tv and our Tonies box.
Nursery rhymes help support early language and build confidence and with combining with copying actions it continues to support physical and cognitive development, emotional wellbeing, strengthen muscles and support balance. Everyone loved a good boogie 😍💃🕺
We also listened and followed along with the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
