One of the many reasons we love living here… ❤️

The Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley are simply spectacular. Whether you drive up the winding roads or tackle the walk on foot, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views, rolling hills and, if you’re lucky, a glimpse of the famous wild ponies.

Add in the lovely town of Church Stretton at the bottom of the hills with its cafés, pubs and independent shops, and you’ve got the perfect Shropshire day out.

We never tire of this view. 🥾🌿🐴

A little bit different from our usual farm updates…

On Friday night we decided to let our hair down and head into Shrewsbury. We parked at the station, grabbed some last-minute tickets at the Buttermarket and ended up singing our hearts out to an amazing Pink tribute act.

And this song, Try, really hit home.

The last year has been one of the biggest adventures of our lives. Moving to Woodgate Farm, juggling businesses, renovating, learning as we go and trying to create the life we’ve always dreamed of. At times it’s felt exciting, exhausting, terrifying and wonderful all at once.

There are definitely moments when we feel overwhelmed and wonder if we’re taking on too much.

But then you stop, take a breath and look around.

The farm is slowly becoming home. The holiday let is thriving. The caravan site is coming together. The children are happy. The animals are happy. And we’re building something that feels truly ours.

This song is a reminder that you don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to get it right every time. Sometimes you just have to be brave enough to try.

And honestly?

That’s exactly what we’re doing.

So here’s to saying yes to adventures, dancing badly in clubs we hadn’t planned to visit, taking chances and trusting that all the hard work will be worth it in the end.

Because even on the overwhelming days, we wouldn’t change it for the world. ❤️

At first glance, this is just our dining table.

But look a little closer and you’ll see a snapshot of life here at Woodgate Farm.

A laptop open for admin and website updates.
Paperwork for dog training clients.
Course planning and Zoom consultations.
Laundry waiting to be folded.
The vacuum cleaner ready for holiday cottage changeover.
Guest bookings to manage.
The caravan site website to finalise.

And that’s before we’ve fed livestock, checked fences, moved sheep, mowed grass, sorted family life, cooked tea, helped with homework, and all while Richard is working full-time too.

Running Woodgate Farm isn’t just one business—it’s a collection of dreams, projects and responsibilities all woven together. Some days it’s muddy wellies and sheep hurdles. Other days it’s ironing bedding and preparing the cottage for arriving guests. Most days it’s a little bit of everything.

We wouldn’t have it any other way.

What an amazing day we’ve had here at Woodgate Farm ☀️

Today some of our friends — and our children’s friends — from back in Cheshire came to visit us and see our new adventure here on the farm. It was so lovely watching the kids all pick back up where they left off, running around outdoors, laughing, exploring and just enjoying being kids together again ❤️

The sun shone, we had lots of laughs, plenty of catch-ups, and it was one of those days that reminds you exactly why we made this move. Sometimes it’s important to slow down a little and appreciate the beautiful surroundings and special people around us.

Thank you so much for coming to see us — we absolutely loved having you here and can’t wait to welcome you back again soon 🐑
