Look at how many people are at Happy Valley in Llandudno πŸ‘’

This postcard shows a busy day in the early 1900s, with visitors covering the hillside in their hats and summer outfits.

Before people had cameras or phones for holiday photos, postcards were a simple way to share a bit of your trip with family and friends.

Have you ever sent a postcard while on holiday?

You can find more postcards from the Conwy Archives (Diwylliant Conwy Culture) collection in the comments below πŸ‘‡

🎨 Spotlight on a Historic Local Artist 🎨

George Hayes

Born in Huddersfield, this talented artist made his mark in the world of landscape painting. Around 1855, he left Manchester for the serene beauty of the Conwy Valley.

An early member of both the Manchester Academy and the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA), his works were showcased at the Royal Academy in London, as well as in cities like Manchester (1877), Cardiff (1882), Newcastle (1884), and Liverpool (1885).

He painted some stunning landscapes of iconic North Welsh locations, including Conwy and Llandudno.

In 1881, he settled in Conwy, where he spent his final years. He passed away in 1895 at the age of 72 at his home in Gorphwysfa, Gyffin, and is buried in Gyffin Churchyard.
