This morning, I, Spooky Jo, delivered the Coventry Martyrs Walking Tour for the first time. Walking the path with guests was a real pleasure, rich conversations, thoughtful questions, and moments of quiet reflection.

The experience took an unexpected and rather haunting turn when one of my guests revealed they are a descendant of Laurence Saunders, one of the Martyrs. Pictured below.

It added a chilling depth to the story, as if history itself had stepped out from the shadows to walk beside us.

Feedback was encouraging, and I'm inspired to keep evolving the tour with even more questions, stories, and surprises.

👻 Use Us or Lose Us – A Haunting Truth for Coventry's Tour Guides 👣

We’re the ghosts behind the stories, the voices that bring Coventry’s streets to life — independent tour guides who research, write, and share the secrets, scandals, and soul of this incredible city.

But here's the chilling truth... this year is eerily quiet. Unlike York, Chester, or Edinburgh, Coventry doesn’t come with built-in crowds — every single visitor we get, we fight for.

We don’t just show up and talk. We pay our own way: taxes, insurance, endless hours of prep — all so your experience is richer than a lonely wander through the unknown.

So if you love Coventry — its past, its mystery, its hidden gems — we need your support.

Yesterday, Spooky Jo brought the chills and thrills!

She delivered a fang-tastic talk to 180 Year 7 students, then kept the stories flowing with a special evening session for a local history group. 🕸️🪦

But the fun doesn’t stop there...

👣 Both Jo and Adam are available for walks, talks, research projects, theatre events, hanging out with dragons and more — all designed to bring Coventry and beyond rich (and sometimes creepy) history to life in unforgettable ways.

Join Spooky Jo at Shortland Coffee Co., Warwick Row, Coventry, for a fascinating and moving evening as we uncover the lesser-known history of the devastating April 1941 air raid on Coventry on it's 84th anniversary.

While the Blitz of November 1940 is widely remembered, this later attack left a lasting impact on the city and its people.

Taking place on Tuesday 8th April & Thursday 10th April 2025, this special event offers a chance to reflect on Coventry’s wartime past in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere.

Over coffee and cake, our expert speaker will share insights into the events of that fateful night, the resilience of Coventry’s communities, and the long-term effects on the city’s landscape on the site of one of those fateful attacks.
