One of my favourite forests has laid dormant for months, quiet and waiting. But this weekend it feels like it’s truly come alive again. The flowers are out, fresh leaves are bursting into green, and the birdsong fills the air.

Brilliant morning out on the moor with , taking a fantastic group of German children around Hay Tor. The mist rolled in thick and low, wrapping the granite in that proper Dartmoor atmosphere way.
It definitely added something extra to the storytelling… the legends felt a little darker, the tors a little wilder, and every shape in the fog sparked imagination. There’s something special about seeing young people experience Dartmoor like that — asking questions, spotting shapes in the rocks, and fully leaning into the adventure.

I spent the day with the Search and recuse dogs as a ‘dogsbody’. The search dogs had to find me- awarded with their favourite toy.

A brilliant experience, even in the crap weather! They are always looking for volunteers to act as casualties , so get involved!

Today’s one day beginner navigation course. We had all of Dartmoor best weather, including a hailstorm was hurt! Thank goodness I had the emergency shelter we could jump into!

Well done Howard, James, Becky and Lucy and doing some excellent navigating today. See you on the next one!
