There was an article in one of last week’s papers about faux flowers, comparing them with fresh flowers.
When I started as a florist 40 years ago, artificial flowers were disgusting. The majority were plastic ( horrific memories of dried statice wreaths with plastic chrysanthemums stuffed in them) or very poor quality fabric flowers (and who remembers flocked fern?)

But today’s faux flowers are fabulous! Good quality and extremely lifelike. In some cases it’s hard to tell the difference between faux and fresh.
Many wedding flowers are now faux, giving the bride an everlasting memory of her special day and mixing faux with fresh means a bride can have peonies out of season by using faux ones with the other fresh flowers.
