Looking for a family villa in Corsica that is perfect for a September getaway?

Looking for a relaxing villa break in September?

How about this gorgeous villa on the tiny Ionian island of Paxos. Barely 8 miles from tip to toe and only accessible by boat, Paxos has retained all of its old‑world Grecian charm.

This welcoming villa on the peaceful west coast sleeps up to six guests:

1 double bedroom
1 twin bedroom
1 smaller twin bedroom that is ideal for children

You will have your own private pool, an inviting outdoor dining area and a light, open‑plan living and dining space that feels like a true home‑from‑home.

I would recommend hiring a car so you can easily explore the island. The pretty harbour villages of Lakka, Loggos and Gaios are all around a 10‑minute drive away, perfect for tavernas, sunset drinks and boat trips.

Prefer to stay close to home? In just a 20‑minute walk you can be in the village of Magazia, where you will find several tavernas, cafés, a bakery and a small supermarket. Everything you need is close by for a truly special Paxos escape.

St Nicolas Bay Hotel, Agios Nikolais, Crete

Four beautiful days at St Nicolas Bay in Crete and I am completely in love with this hotel.

Despite being around 85% full, it felt so peaceful. The resort is so spread out, with just 137 rooms and 8 villas, that it never felt crowded and there was never any problem finding a lounger to relax on.

There is a stunning main infinity pool overlooking Mirabello Bay, with views across to nearby Agios Nikolaos, plus a smaller, quieter pool with its own bar for when you really want to switch off. Many of the suites and villas, including mine, also have their own private pool for that extra level of luxury and privacy.

During my stay I was able to experience a blissful spa treatment, a calming yoga class, and a wonderful afternoon with the chef learning about traditional Greek dishes and even helping to roll stuffed vine leaves. These little touches really bring the destination to life.

A special mention to Alex, the manager, who made us – and every guest – feel genuinely welcomed and relaxed from the moment we arrived.

Last week while I was in Mykonos I visited the gorgeous Grecotel Blu, located on Psarou Beach, around 6 km from Mykonos Town. The 103‑room hotel (also 10 villas and houses) feels stylish yet intimate, and every member of staff I met was kind and attentive. The hotel is available on a B&B basis or half board and features a gorgeous spa and gym.

I was also shown the Grand Blu Suite with its all whitewashed decor, ample space, chic accessories (including a radio and coffee maker) and its own private pool facing the sea. It is such a gorgeous option if you love your own space and those uninterrupted views.

I then spent the afternoon on the comfiest sun lounger, gazing at the crystal‑clear water and watching the superyachts drift by. Even my plastic beach wine glass felt elevated! I hope one day to be back.

Just back from the most gorgeous few days in Mykonos. We stayed in Ornos, which has beautiful beaches, stylish hotels and some lovely little restaurants, plus it is so easy to hop on the bus into Mykonos Town.

One day we took a boat trip that stopped at some of the island’s best beaches: Platis Gialos, Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. We had a delicious long lunch in Elia and somehow managed to miss the last boat back to Ornos… but we handled it like troopers and turned it into part of the adventure!

Already dreaming of the next trip back.

Check out this log cabin, aptly named The Cabin, set in 65 acres of ancient woodland in West Sussex. Hidden along a private footpath, it feels wonderfully off‑grid yet is only a short drive from the charming village of Billingshurst.
