Exmoor is one of the country’s most picturesque National Parks, renowned for its wild Exmoor ponies and superb riding country.

In fact, the best way to see and experience Exmoor is probably on horseback!

There are several riding stables in the area, but we have known the team at Pine Lodge Riding & Holidays on Exmoor, Near Dulverton for years and always been impressed with their care for their horses and knowledge of the best local rides. Pine Lodge offers:

Pony Experience: A half-hour pony experience for children, on the leading rein with a rosette at the end

Novice Rides: Accompanied hacks for less experienced adults and children on or off the leading rein

Experienced Rides: Ride through forests and rivers and canter across breathtaking open moorland

Safari Day Rides: Ride and stop for lunch at Tarr Steps or Molland.

Woodleigh Cottage is less than 15 minutes' drive to Pine Lodge and a great base for your riding, walking or cycling holiday.

Thinking about a fun day on Exmoor with a chance to step back into ancient history?

Visiting Tarr Steps and the Barle Valley is always one of the most popular days out when guests book Woodleigh Cottage.

The bridge is not only a significant Ancient Monument in its own right, it's the focal point for a wonderful day in the country.

Take big steps over the giant stones, a walk through the woodlands on either side of the river bank - perhaps with a picnic and the chance for a wild swim if the weather is looking good?

Then stop in at the welcoming 17th century Tarr Farm Inn Ltd for a Somerset cider and a snack, or a delicious meal from their brilliant menu.

A stunning drive over the moors back to Dulverton and your own pretty, cottage, full of cosy rustic charm. Sounds like a great day!

If your mouth is watering looking at the vibrant, fresh colours of this delicious starter of burrata, blood orange and radicchio from The White Hart, Wiveliscombe, then imagine how good it tastes!

We love what William Sitwell and his team are doing as they revive and revamp a 17th century former coaching inn into a destination Italian restaurant and bar - all with an Exmoor vibe!

Amazing to have another delicious venue to recommend to our lovely guests at Woodleigh Cottage, Dulverton.

February on Exmoor is a foodie's dream with the launch of Exmoor Food Fest.

While winter weather, and some sunshine (!), sweep across the moors and coastal paths, Exmoor's kitchens come alive with a month-long celebration of exceptional local produce and unforgettable dining experiences.

Throughout February, participating restaurants across the region offer special tasting menus, chef collaborations, and exceptional value dining that showcases the very best of what Exmoor has to offer.

Many pubs and restaurants offer two courses for around £25.00 and three courses for £30.00.

This isn't just about eating out for less, though the affordable pricing is helpful, it's about discovering the stories behind your plate: the native beef grazing on ancient moorland, the venison roaming free through wooded valleys, the coastal catch brought in fresh from the Bristol Channel, and the farm-to-fork commitment that defines Exmoor's food culture.

And if you're looking for a beautiful cottage for a romantic foodie getaway or a culinary exploration with friends, then Woodleigh Cottage is the perfect location from which to enjoy the Exmoor Food Fest 2026.

Located just a minute's walk from the centre of Dulverton, the Gateway to Exmoor National Park, Woodleigh Cottage offers the ideal combination of peaceful countryside charm and convenient access to the region's best pubs and restaurants.

Sleeps up to four guests in its characterful, cosy bedrooms.
