Beards, BBQs and B**r (0%) — all for Blue Balls! 🎉

At the end of September, Ocean Vertical had the absolute pleasure of hosting Edinburgh Blue Balls for their 5th Birthday wellbeing celebration. 🎂

For those who don’t know, Edinburgh Blue Balls is a fantastic community bringing men together through wild swimming, social events and open conversation around men’s health and wellbeing.

What they’ve built over five years is genuinely something to be proud of, a space where men can show up, be themselves and look after each other. We were honoured to be part of their celebration.

The 30-strong group of Blue Balls split into smaller teams for the activities here at OV HQ — mindfulness with , yoga and movement with , and axe throwing and archery at our woodland range. Followed by a brilliant BBQ from the team at East Coast Catering Ltd. to round off the day.

At OV we love hosting groups — corporate teams, tourists, sports clubs and charities — but this one was a special one. The laughter, the conversation and the camaraderie in that room was genuinely something else.

Happy 5th Birthday Edinburgh Blue Balls. Here’s to many more. 🙌

Our 2026 autumn Assynt expedition was one of those that will stay with us for a while 💙🏔️

Stevie and Mollie led five brilliant people from all corners of the UK into one of the most wild and beautiful corners of Scotland for three days that none of us will forget in a hurry.

Here’s how it went:

🥧 Lochinver Pie Shop — multiple visits, zero regrets. We lost count of the pies consumed over three days and we’re not sorry about it.

🏔️ Suilven — the team summited and returned to the car park in 8 hours, making the most of a weather window. A huge effort from everyone and worth every single step.

🏕️ Achmelvich Beach — camping right next to the water, fish and chips on the beach, morning sea dips with the local seals watching on, and evening drams as the sun went down over the Atlantic.

This is what Ocean Vertical expeditions are all about. Small groups, big landscapes, good people and just enough challenge to remind you what you’re capable of.

We’re heading back in 2027 — twice.

Looking to join one of our Nepal expeditions but got nae pals to join you? Do not worry, the vast majority of people who join our trips are solo travellers 🙌🏔️

We would say, 80% of our trekking clients are people who booked on their own, not knowing a single person on the team.

There’s something about a shared challenge that brings people together faster than almost anything else. By day two on the trail, you’ve already been through enough together to feel like old friends.

Our groups are small, carefully put together and genuinely mixed - different ages, different backgrounds, different reasons for being there. The one thing everyone has in common? They showed up.
