What if where you stayed was just as memorable as where you went?

I’ve been looking through some of the most incredible safari lodges and camps and it got me thinking about how much accommodation can actually add to a trip.

Because when you’re planning a safari, of course the wildlife is the star of the show, but imagine choosing somewhere to stay where the accommodation itself becomes part of the story you bring home.

How about sleeping in a beautifully restored train carriage suspended above the Sabie River in Kruger National Park, with incredible views across the wilderness and wildlife coming down to the river below?

Or perhaps sleeping beneath the African night sky is more your idea of luxury, with your four-poster bed wheeled out onto a private platform at Elewana Loisaba Star Beds, giving you an uninterrupted view of the stars and the sounds of the bush around you.

Then there are the camps that follow the wildlife, such as Bush Rover Migration Camp in Tanzania, where your accommodation moves with the Great Migration so you can be right where the action is, rather than simply visiting it.

And it’s not all about Africa either.

Imagine waking up to Uluṟu glowing red in the early morning light from your pavilion at Longitude 131°, with the Australian outback stretching out in front of you, or staying at Uga Chena Huts in Sri Lanka where you can combine wildlife experiences in Yala National Park with beautiful private accommodation and evenings beneath the stars.

These places don’t feel like traditional hotels where you simply return at the end of the day......they become part of the experience. They give you a different perspective on the destination, whether that’s waking up to wildlife outside your door, sleeping beneath a sky filled with stars or watching the colours of the landscape change as the sun rises.

And that’s one of the things I love most about creating tailor-made travel.

CALLING ALL FOODIES🍋

I’ve got an itinerary that might just be your idea of Greek heaven…

It starts in Athens, where you’ll stay at a beautiful boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Parthenon, which feels like a pretty special place to enjoy your first taste of Greece. ❤️

But this trip isn’t about simply finding somewhere nice to eat, it’s about experiencing the food, culture and history of each destination, starting with a private food tour through Athens where you’ll explore Kotzia Square, wander through the Central Market, visit a local Greek deli and make your way to Monastiraki Square while discovering the flavours and stories behind some of Greece’s best-loved dishes.

Then it’s time to leave the buzz of Athens behind and head to Corfu, where you’ll spend seven nights at the beautiful Corfu Imperial on the private Kommeno Peninsula, surrounded by fragrant gardens and overlooking the Ionian Sea. This is the part of the trip where the pace slows down, with time to enjoy the beaches, beautiful surroundings and those long Greek evenings that seem to stretch effortlessly into dinner.

There’s another foodie experience waiting for you too, with a private walking tour through Corfu’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, beginning with a traditional Greek breakfast before taking you through the local food market to taste some of the island’s specialities, including its famous kumquat liqueur.

Corfu is just as much about the sea as it is about the food, there’s a full-day private catamaran cruise where you can explore the coastline, stop for swimming and snorkelling, enjoy a traditional Greek lunch and make the most of the unlimited drinks on board. I’m not sure there’s a much better way to spend a day in Greece.

What I love about this itinerary is that it gives you two completely different sides of Greece without trying to cram too much into one trip.

This isn’t just a holiday where you visit Greece.

Somewhere a little more secluded 🌴

There are some hotels you discover and immediately think, “I know exactly who I’d send here.” and the Six Senses Con Dao is one of those places.

Tucked away on the Con Dao Islands off the southern coast of Vietnam, this is the kind of resort that feels like an escape from the world rather than simply a place to stay.

There are just 50 villas, each designed to blend into the natural surroundings, with spacious living areas, private balconies or terraces and those beautiful sea views.

And then there’s the setting…

Soft sandy beaches, crystal-blue waters, lush island landscapes and a feeling of peace and seclusion that seems to run through the whole resort. You can spend your days doing as little as possible, or get out on the water for snorkelling, diving, canoeing or surfing.

For me, though, it’s the combination of luxury and a real sense of place that makes this one stand out.

You can cycle around the island, explore local markets or discover more about the fascinating history of Con Dao, including the historic prison site, before retreating back to your villa and that beautiful stretch of beach.

There’s also a spa, pool, gym, tennis and other activities, along with two restaurants, a café and bars, so you’re certainly not short of things to do when you do decide to leave your sun lounger. 😍

It’s the sort of place I can imagine being perfect for a special escape when you want luxury, privacy and somewhere that feels a little bit different.

And judging by the guest feedback, I’m not the only one who thinks so. Guests regularly mention the beautiful villas, fabulous restaurants, exceptional service and that wonderful sense of peace.

Vietnam has so many incredible places to discover, but I think Con Dao might just have slipped onto my list. 🌴

A new reason to put Punta Cana on your list 🌴

There’s something quite exciting about discovering a brand-new hotel before everyone else starts talking about it…

Opening this week, Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana is bringing a slightly different feel to the Dominican Republic. An adults-only, all-inclusive resort designed around wellbeing, connection, good food and experiencing a little more of the destination.

Set right on the beach at Cabeza de Toro, it has 467 rooms and suites, with interiors inspired by the area’s fishing-village heritage. Think natural textures, local artwork and a contemporary take on Caribbean style.

Five à la carte restaurants, a food hall, seven bars and a speakeasy-style cocktail bar… plus unlimited dining without having to make reservations.

Then there’s the wellness side. Yoga, meditation, paddleboarding, snorkelling, padel, pickleball, a spa and wellness café.

And for those who like a holiday to be a little more social, there are beach bonfires, live music, pottery workshops and sip-and-paint sessions.

So you could spend the morning doing absolutely nothing by the pool, wander off for a paddleboarding session in the afternoon and end the day with cocktails and live music.

And because it’s just 20 minutes from Punta Cana airport, you can be from plane to pool without spending half your holiday travelling.

I love finding new hotels like this for my clients especially when they offer something a little different from the usual all-inclusive experience.

I’ve found an itinerary that might just make your travel bucket list a whole lot longer… 👀✈️

It starts in Lima.

A couple of days exploring Peru’s capital, taking in its historic centre and discovering a little of the country’s fascinating history before heading into the Andes.

Then comes Cusco and the Sacred Valley, where ancient Inca history, dramatic mountain landscapes and traditional communities come together.

And then… Machu Picchu.

You board the train and wind your way through the Andean highlands before arriving at one of those places that photographs simply cannot do justice to.

Standing there, surrounded by mountains and centuries of history, must be quite something. ❤️

But this journey doesn’t stop there.

Next stop is Quito, high in the Ecuadorian Andes, with time to explore its beautiful historic centre before heading to the Middle of the World, where you can quite literally stand with one foot in each hemisphere. 🌎

And then comes the part that really caught my attention…

The Galápagos Islands. 🐢🌊

Nine days exploring this extraordinary archipelago aboard the intimate MS Santa Cruz II, travelling between volcanic islands and getting up close to wildlife that simply doesn’t behave as though humans are anything special.

Sea lions lounging on the shore. Marine iguanas basking in the sunshine. Giant tortoises roaming through the highlands. Penguins, blue-footed bo***es and sea turtles.

There’s snorkelling, kayaking, glass-bottom boat excursions and guided landings with naturalist experts who bring the landscape and wildlife to life.

And every island has something different to discover.

What I love about this journey is that it combines two completely different sides of South America.

The history, culture and mountains of Peru, followed by the wild landscapes and extraordinary wildlife of the Galápagos.

It’s the kind of trip where you’d probably come home with hundreds of photographs… and even more stories.

And isn't that what the best adventures are all about? ❤️🌎

YES… TWO YEARS AGO! Where on earth has that time gone?! 😂

In those two years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of sending over 250 passengers off on their holidays, creating all sorts of amazing trips and, honestly, it still gives me so much joy every single time I see a client’s holiday photos or hear all about their adventures when they get home. ❤️

I genuinely wouldn’t change it for the world.
