WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF A GHOST WOKE YOU UP EVERY NIGHT.
In the 1830s a Husband and wife were been scared nightly by a white ghost that would come through the wall into the bedroom and get into the wife's bed.
This went on for a few weeks when the Husband approached a Vicar for help the Vicar agreed that himself and a police officer would investigate the strange occurrence.
On the night in question the 2 visitors knocked at the door and were ushered in after formal introductions they all settled down for the night.
Around 1am in the morning there was noises from the bedroom the Vicar and police officer officer bust into the room the Vicar started to pray and try and ease the couples fears.
The police officer dived at the bed and what ever was underneath the bedsheets.
It turned out that the ghost was infact a goose and it had found a loose board on the wall pushing the board give it access to the bedroom where it would make it's way underneath the bedsheets and a nice warm bed for the night.
The Vicar later reported to the papers that it was a spirit of the feathered kind.
And the Police officer said the ghost had been seized seasoned and roasted.

WHAT IS THE CREEPIEST GHOST STORY THAT YOU HAVE EVER HEARD.
For me it has to be the hand of Glory from Spital Inn Stainmore.
The Hand of Glory was seen as a magical object that would give the owner magical powers.
People would cut the left hand off Criminals who had been hanged for their crimes.
These hands would then be preserved and magical rituals and lotions and potions used on them so to give them magical powers.
When used these Hands of Glory would give the owner either the power of invisibility, or the ability to open any lock with ease or the power to put everyone except the people in the light of the candle to sleep.
In 1797 a hand of Glory was used at a Coaching at Stainmore between Barnard Castle And Brough.
One late night there was a knock at the door and when the the barmaid answered the down there was a old woman standing at the door looking for shelter for the night.
The barmaid opened the door to let the old lady in to take shelter from the cold wet night.
Once in the barmaid went to get a warm drink and something to eat for her guest.
When the Barmaid returned something did feel right. The old lady although walking as though she was frail and weak had large hairy hands the maid started to think that is may well not be a old lady at all, but a criminal in disguise.
The maid not wanting to show that she knew that it wasn't a old woman at all so she said chatting and then pretended that she was falling asleep. Even snoring to make the man in disguise think that she had fallen asleep.
Once he thought the Maid was asleep he took out the hand of Glory and lite the candle saying "let those who are asleep stay asleep and those awake be awake."
He then went to open the front door to let his cohorts in. The maid still pretending to be asleep timed her attack just right and as the man opened the door she ran hard at him hitting him square in the back and knocking him flying down the stairs.
Then as quick as a flash she bolted the door and went to wake the other up stairs throwing the hand into the fire as she went past.
However She couldn't wake anyone so came back down stairs where she saw the hand slowly creeping and crawling out of the Fire.
The maid picked up a poker and stabbed the hand which was still twitching on the poker she then remembered that the only way to deal with such magic was to plunge the hand of Glory into a bucket of milk the hand started to hiss and thrash about and made a sound like it was screaming.
Finally it stopped and everyone asleep in the house work up.
The criminals outside by this point where banging on the door saying if the hand was returned they would leave the promises alone.
However one of the residents took out a pistol firing a shot out into the night.
There was commotion outside then the noise of people running away.
In the morning a trail of blood was found leading away from the inn.
The hand of Glory was buried out in the moors.
But over the years people at the inn have reported seeing something crawling across the floor thinking it is a mouse or rat they look down to see a severed hand crawling across the floor or they feel something crawling up their leg only to look down to see tge severed hand creeping and crawling up their legs.
If you want to see a true hand of Glory check out The Whitby Museum or the Museum of Magic fortune telling and Witchcraft at Edinburgh.
Would you dare use a hand of Glory.
