I might owe our followers an apology.
It's 02:27 in Durham on a Sunday morning. I’ve just closed the laptop after hours of working through Python scripts and supplier API documentation.
A brief social media scroll before hitting the pillow showed me that I’ve only posted once since 22 July.
I think I need to tell you why...
It comes down to priorities. As Director of YTC, I am personally invested not just in my business, but in the businesses of all 50+ of our agents.
When an agent calls, I answer. No support tickets. No 48-hour turnarounds. Just a direct line through to me.
Why am I choosing to code at half past two in the morning?
Because I’m building systems our agents rely on every single day. I’m integrating direct API feeds straight into our Agent Hub—Low-Cost Carriers, GDS ticketing, bedbanks, and activity providers. One live search replaces logging into 20+ separate supplier websites, saving our agents hours of manual work.
What happened to the daylight hours?
Those were spent answering calls from our agents, navigating supplier terms and conditions, or offering a quick, encouraging "You've got this."
Plus 7 calls with new agents looking to join us. (Welcome to the ones that have joined already today!)
I love those calls because I get to explain why I have zero ambition to grow to 1,000+ agents. To me, massive scale just dilutes support. I’d rather support our existing members fully than hide behind a call centre or an automated email queue. One mobile number, direct to the founder.
So, I’m sorry for being quiet on socials recently.
Between supplier meetings, agent support, and building 30+ custom tools for our Agent Hub, my priority will always be supporting our agents' businesses when they need me—even if that means coding whilst the kids sleep after our movie night.
I’m not building one brand. I’m helping build 50+.
Our welcome email ends with: "Welcome to YTC – where your success is our success." That is something I’ll never apologise for.
With a 93%+ agent retention rate, the numbers tell the real story: people join, and people stay... because of the support.
If you want to see what actual support looks like, give me a call. I’ll answer.
(I’d show you a picture of my desk, but between the scribbled notes, coffee cups, and dim lighting, it’s not pretty. Instead, here’s a photo from a quick walk earlier today when I needed some fresh air!)
