ITS FINALLY HERE!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🥳

So many hours and so much love went into creating this latest travel guide - it’s a biggie but I wanted it to cover all of Scotland’s magic!

I hope when travel restrictions lift, you are able to explore Scotland and fall in love with it as I have.

It’s on the website now -> http://bit.ly/ScotlandTravelGuideGTT

Day 5 of your 10 day Scotland itinerary! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⠀
⠀
Isle of Skye - Dunvegan Castle and grounds 🏰⠀
⠀
Any visit to the Isle of Skye is incomplete without enjoying the wealth of history Dunvegan Castle & Gardens has to offer. ⠀
⠀
Sir Reginald MacLeods was the first Chief to open Dunvegan to the public in 1933. Since then, the number of visitors has risen from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands. Despite such numbers crowding into a space that was designed to keep people out, this stunning castle still maintains the atmosphere of a family home.⠀
⠀
Visitors can enjoy tours of an award winning castle and delight in the beauty of its formal gardens 🌳. You can also take a boat trip to see the Loch Dunvegan seal colony, stay in one of its charming Victorian holiday cottages, enjoy an appetising meal at the MacLeod Tables Cafe or browse in one of its four shops offering a wide choice of high quality Scottish products.⠀
⠀
Over the centuries, the castle has given a warm welcome to visitors including Queen Elizabeth II - it is a truly magical place.⠀
⠀
👉🏼 Disclaimer: We couldn't go inside due to COVID restrictions but it is still worth a visit!

Day 4 of your 10 day Scotland itinerary! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⠀
⠀
The Isle Of Skye - Fairy Glen 🧚🏼‍♀️🧚🏽‍♂️⠀
⠀
On the West side of Trotternish at Balnacnoc, above Uig, is the Fairy Glen. The road winds around small round-topped grassy hills with lochans (ponds) in between which gives the glen an otherworldly feel.⠀
⠀
The Isle Of Skye has a long history involving the Fairys, most of which is related to Dunvegan Castle and their ‘Fairy Flag’. ⠀
⠀
Sadly, the Fairy Glen (much like the Fairy Pools in Glenbrittle) has no real stories involving fairies. It is just that the location is unusual so it has been given the nickname Fairy Glen.⠀
⠀
👉🏼 Parking is very limited in the Glen. I recommend that you park in Uig and walk into the Glen (30min) - it is a really lovely walk.⠀

Day 3 of our 10 day Scotland itinerary.

The Isle of Skye and the Old Man of Storr hike ⛰️.⠀
⠀
This very popular walk climbs up for a close look at the massive pinnacle of the Old Man of Storr - one of Scotland's most iconic places. ⠀
⠀
The Old Man is in fact just one element in an array of impressive rock features, and the views out over the Sound of Raasay and to the mainland are simply stunning.⠀
⠀
Terrain: Clear hill paths, steep and rocky higher up. ⠀
⠀
Getting there: You can take the bus (Number 57) which goes there 4 times a day from Portree - get off near Storr car park or you can drive.⠀
⠀
Starting point: Storr car park on the left side of the A855 heading from Portree. ⠀
⠀
➡️ Top Tip: Head there early because it gets busy and as the day goes on, the rain will sets in and it gets very wet. Make sure you pack layers and waterproofs!

Day 2 of our 10 day Scotland Road Trip! 😍⠀
⠀
Driving the Glenetive Road, where scenes from the latest James Bond movie with Daniel Craig were shot. This road is simply stunning - spend your morning here breathing it all in.⠀
⠀
Then travel a little further north towards Fort William to see the Glennfinnian Viaduct - famous for all those Harry Potter fans out there. I am not a huge fan but the sight was impressive to say the least. Make sure you are there at 10.45am or 3pm to spot the steam train 🚆 driving over the Viaduct. Aim to arrive 30 minutes before hand to make sure you get a great viewing spot. ⠀
⠀
If you have time to do some hiking here are some great choices close by:⠀
➡️ Three Sisters of the Hidden Valley Nature Reserve⠀
⠀
Later on, if you are heading over to Skye, don't miss the Elieen Donan castle 🏰, it is breathtaking!

Which one are you? 🤔⠀
⠀
The famous philosopher Laozi once said, “A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.” 💚⠀
⠀
All too often, people who travel seem to have a list of things they want to accomplish. It doesn’t matter how they go about it, as long as they can check everything off that list.⠀
⠀
Many of these travellers don’t seem to care if their experiences can offer them anything other than the ability to brag about the places they went.⠀
⠀
But thankfully, a movement known as slow travel has been gaining a lot of traction and we are firm supporters of this.⠀
⠀
Slow travel is the idea that the only way to directly experience your surroundings is by slowing down, rejecting the checklist approach and keeping yourself open to incredible experiences that exist out there in the world.⠀
⠀
Slow travel is a mindset, a lifestyle and by far the best way to travel. Would love to know your thoughts in the comments 👇🏼

Kicking off your 10 day Scotland Itinerary! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⠀
⠀
Glencoe and the Pap of Glencoe hike.⠀
⠀
Glencoe is a village in western Scotland. It lies in steep-sided Glencoe valley, in the Scottish Highlands. The area is known for waterfalls and trails that climb peaks such as Buachaille Etive Mor, Bidean nam Bian and the Pap of Glencoe (pictured here). ⠀
⠀
The Pap of Glencoe is a mountain ⛰️ on the northern side of Glencoe, directly above the point where the River Coe enters Loch Leven - the views are insane!⠀
⠀
Glencoe village is also stunning, with 18th-century thatched cottages and beautiful imposing mountains and if you are lucky, you will get to spot red deer and golden eagles.⠀
⠀
👉🏼 And this is just one of the many places I will share with you over the next few weeks - I am SO excited to share this magical country with you 😍⠀

DESTINATION WISH LIST 💚

Mantua, Italy.

Mantua (or Mantova) is a city and comune in Lombardy, Italy, surrounded on three sides by artificial lakes, created during the 12th century as the city's defence system.

Mantua often gets overshadowed by some of its more popular neighbours of Verona, Venice and Milan - but it has just as much to offer, like:

💫 Palazzo Ducale in Mantua - A palace with 500 rooms where the Gonzaga family lived and ruled from 1328 to 1707, until the Duke Ferdinand Karl was forced to the exile.

💫 Sant'Andrea Church in Mantua - According to tradition, in the Church of Sant’Andrea it is guarded the earth with the blood of Christ that Longinus, the Roman centurion who pierced his side, picked up at the foot of the Cross.

💫 Explore the Basilica de Saint'Andrea - Built back in the 15th Century this basilica took over 500 years to complete! (in the background on the left of this photo).

💫 Rotonda di San Lorenzo - This is just one of the reasons Mantua has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is just so unique. The rotunda was originally dedicated to the Goddess Venus - and inside it is pure magic.

TRAVELLING SOLO 🙋🏼‍♀️

I have travelled multiple times in my own, for weekends away as well as longer trips (4-6 months) and I STILL get butterflies 🦋 before I set off.

But that is part of the beauty of it. Feeling alive, excited, anxious, nervous and feeling like you can take on the world (especially after navigating your way through a foreign country where you don’t speak the language.)

But if you are struggling with fighting the fear and kickstarting your solo adventure, here are my top tips:

✅ Feel the fear and do it anyway. And when I say feel it, I mean really FEEL IT. Confront it, question it and reason with it. Logicalise the s**t out of it.

✅ Plan but not too much. Do enough planning to make yourself feel comfortable in where you are going for a few days. You are sure to meet people if you stay in hostels or at a homestay, so leave the rest of your itinerary open after that. You’ll quickly get into the flow, trust me.

✅ Research! Know where you are going - their traditions, customs, likes / dislikes, what is rude and what isn’t and learn a few phrases in their language - it goes along way in the form of respect.

✅ Download maps.me and download the map for the first place you are going. It has live tracking on it so you can check where you are going at all times. I do this to help me navigate transport, especially when I don’t know the language of the country I am going to.

✅ DO NOT LISTEN TO NAYSAYERS. I’ve had family, friends and strangers tell me I’m crazy when I say I’m off travelling alone. If you have done your research, planned as much as you need to and you are sensible / safe, you will be fine. Don’t let them stop you from going in the first place.

For the last two years, I have been working day and night to achieve my goal of becoming Location Independent - meaning that I can work from anywhere I choose across the whole wide world (when travel restrictions lift of course).

It has been tough. There have been tears, tantrums, anxiety attacks and days where I thought I was crazy. But there have also been massive wins and days where I have felt on top of the world 🌍💚

And I am proud to say that as of August 2020, I am now completely Location Independent.

Check out how I did it here: http://bit.ly/Becominglocationindependent

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Have a beautiful rest of the weekend 🌼 💫
