OLD ROSEBANK ...

Old rose bank back when the air of respect lingered in its stores

Did you know there is a folk tale that Dieago actually kept all the reserves of Old rosebank onsite and when the stills were stollen the thieves missed a bigger payday under their noses

Ian Macleod distillers bought everything from Dieago and turned the site into a haven for the rich ... yes your welcome to visit on one of their low budget tours ...but they only really focus on the wealthy... such a shame a loss of an iconic brand ...

THE SIR JOHN DE GRAEME YEW

According to legend after Sir John de Graeme was slain During the Battle of Falkirk 1298 his body was dragged under this yew tree for safety

Wallace is said to have returned to collect his friends remains and give him a proper burial

The tree stood for centuries around the Grahamston/Bainsford area ( Not to be confused with one located at Victoria park)

Until 31st of December 1860 when with great difficulty it was moved to make way for foundry expansion

It found a new home where it resides to this day

While some argue the trees authenticity it's story of removal is fact thanks to dendrochronlogical research, which asks the question why move a tree when it's easier to simply cut it down?

The Trees links to the past were so strong that it was too much to destroy it, moving the yew is one of only a few examples of moving heritage trees the other being the John Knox yew
