I am pleased to tell you that the kayaks have been licensed for the remainder of the season! Many thanks to Mark (Truro Harbour Master), on behalf of Cornwall Council.
Please see below the measures we are implementing on both the kayaks and "Paramour 2", and also the measures we are taking, along with the Pier and Harbour Co, to operate within current guidelines on the slipway.
Kayaks-
Bookings will be taken in advance and paid in advance as much as possible. Extra time will have to be left between customers so that cleaning can take place. We will try and operate on some lovely summer evenings if demand is there, to accommodate everyone that wants to paddle.
Hand sanitiser / wipes will be available.
Our working area will be defined by rope and barrier to try and maintain physical distance from customers. Customers will not be required to sign the form as usual, but will be given their copy and asked to read safety guidelines / restrictions. Payment by BACs in advance, or card where possible.
Buoyancy aids handed out with care. We will demonstrate correct fit by using a different jacket. Correct fit will be checked while standing behind customer.
Customers will select their own paddle. We will demonstrate paddling technique maintaining physical distance. Ensure paddles are clipped to kayaks when paddlers are seated.
We will help paddlers by holding kayaks at the back (no physical contact). Paddlers should be agile enough to embark / disembark by themselves.
To minimise cross-contamination all equipment will be wiped down with detergent / disinfectant solution between customers. You may prefer to use your own dry bags and charts / maps if you have them.
βParamour 2β-
Bookings to be taken in advance and paid in advance as much as possible. Payment by BACs or card where possible. Handles and other places of contact will be wiped down between customers..
Hand sanitiser / wipes available.
Passengers will be given lifejackets with care, they will be wiped down after use.
Adjustments to be made by passengers (we will explain using another jacket), apart from tightening which can be done from the back by skipper.
Passengers must be agile enough to embark / disembark without assistance from the skipper. There will be no mixed groups aboard, five passengers max to maintain physical distance from skipper.
Slipway-
Restricted access to Kayak Hire / "Paramour 2", Place Ferry and Fish & Trips / Boat Hire only.
Private boats to drop and go.
No persons to be loitering on the slipway, swimming, sitting etc... Persons embarking / disembarking boats should immediately move away from the slipway.
No queuing / waiting on the slipway.
Customers obviously unwell should not go afloat / be on the slipway.
As I have stated previously, we can only do so much. If you are not happy with any of these procedures please do not come afloat with us.
We hope to see you all soon, Mark & Will (Kayak Assistant).
