Making memories! 💙

Managed to squeeze this trip in just before the weather turns for the worse. Aaron's wife contacted me months ago asking to get a couple of gift vouchers as a present to her husband and son Harry.

I really enjoy these father/son trips and today was no exception, a great family day out for both of them 🙂

Conditions were challenging in my little boat but they both managed a cracking bass each on the lures so gone home happy as hunter gatherers 😅

Was able to give experienced angler Aaron a few pointers in refining his lure fishing technique, fishing accurately and effectively. It only took 15 minutes and a cracking bass hit his lure on the drop after I explained opening the bale arm half way through the retrieve to drop back down will extend his effective 'fishing time' near the reef. Minutes later and 9 year old Harry was into one too!

Bit of a personal post, I wanted to say a huge thank you to Marc Smithy for taking me out on my first ever tuna trip. Im out at sea a lot with clients but the minute we left the dock this had a whole different feel to it, the excitement was tangible, very hard to put into words. Marc is a top class tuna specialist, his knowledge in finding these fish, safely playing and most importantly the fish welfare was second to none, it really impressed me, especially when we had a double hook up with boats coming towards us pulling gear, im not sure what was louder, smithy's horn or the verbal instructions to the other boats to get away from us 🤬😅

Not going to put numbers on the fish I caught, as far as im concerned they're just f*ckin massive 😅

Thanks again mate, truly a day I will never forget 🙏

Day 2 for steve...

A private charter, steve is a very accomplished angler, fished all over the world for years. His love is carp fishing back home and wanted to get some one to one guidance on lure fishing that he can use on future boat trips, home or abroad.

We went through various techniques, I gave him some pointers on fishing extremely accurately, close to the sea bed and some different retrieve styles...

Within 30 minutes he was absolutely smashing it, in his 4 hour trip he had 5 bass and even I got to get amongst em 😊

In his 2 trips he boated 8 sharks and 5 bass 🔥 😎

Always a pleasure to have very good anglers aboard.

Looking forward to next time 🫡

The first run very nearly emptied the reel, 15 minutes later and this shark still had enough power to strip line, max the rod out and do laps of the boat... very well done steve 👏

Amazing days fishing 🎣 👌 steve booked a couple of days fishing aboard ORCA way back in spring, one shark trip and lure fishing tutorial.

Day one we headed out after the sharks. 13 year old Albert had his first ever fishing experience only the previous day catching mackerel and dogfish, today he fought and landed several blue sharks up to around 60lb! The first shark tore off less than 30 minutes into the drift, within the hour we had around half a dozen sharks circling the boat. Unable to fish 2 rods for fear of multiple hook ups and tangles the lads had 9 takes and 8 fish to the boat in a crazy 3.5 hours on one rod 😳
The final take was savage, once hooked the shark nearly emptied the reel of line, I had to manoeuvre the boat several times as it dived under the boat, around the bow and engine. 30 minutes later one of the biggest blues iv seen in a long time was safely unhooked and swam off strong. Didn't have my measure with me today but comfortably 95lb-110lb. Great skills from steve, many times the rod was plunged into the sea to keep the line from touching the keel or engine resulting in a lost fish with trace gear.

I have some spaces available for the annual Falmouth shark competition. I can take 2 guests maximum, all in aid of supporting our RNLI. I can provide all equipment if needed or bring your own. £120 per person plus your £20 donation to the RNLI. Those thinking about applying dont forget your sea legs in case its bumpy out there on the day 😉

Mission accomplished 😎 🎣

Lloyd got in touch a while back to book a private charter, already a very experienced boat angler he expressed an interest in refining his lure fishing technique. Why, where and when to use particular lures, how tide and drifts speed affects your approach and how to lure fish effectively in different depths.

We visited various reefs of differing depths, tidal runs and seabed contours plus a couple of wrecks so he could apply this to his own boat angling. Occasionally those hot sunny days can be tricky when it comes to lure fishing but the lads fished really well picking up bass and po***ck from every reef. Nice to see some conscientious angling from Lloyd and his lads too, once they had 2 bass between them they started returning all fish as they had enough for their evening family meal 🙂

A really nice day out, good chat and great company 👍 looking forward to the next time ✌️
