Not all beach clubs are created equal… 🏖️🇮🇹
I arrived in Italy expecting the usual beach-club set-up: sunbeds, parasols, lunch, cocktails and a swim.
Along the Amalfi Coast, it was a different story.
At Da Adolfo in Positano, we arrived by boat, settled beside the sea and enjoyed a relaxed Italian lunch. Family-run, unpretentious and our favourite of the three.
Conca del Sogno in Nerano was more polished, with terraces, sunbeds, a restaurant and steps leading into the water. Peaceful, romantic and expensive.
At Il Pirata in Praiano, the setting was classic Amalfi: cliffs, sea views, direct access to the water, good food and a lively atmosphere.
Then we reached Puglia and found…
Sand. 😂
At Calderisi Mare, the mood was relaxed luxury: private beach, day beds, restaurant and a glamorous girls’ trip feel.
Lido Bambù offered the full beach-club experience, with waiter service, cocktails, aperitivo and cabanas. My pick for couples wanting to settle in for the day.
And Belli Freschi was a great family-friendly option, with beachside poke bowls and a smarter restaurant for a more elevated meal.
The contrast was striking.
Amalfi means cliffs, coves and ladders into the sea.
Puglia means soft sand, waiter service and cocktails with your feet in the sand.
Both are beautiful, but they’re completely different experiences.
So when someone tells me they want a beach holiday, I need to know:
Sand or rocks? Rustic or luxury? Couples, families or girls’ trip?
Because “beach club” doesn’t tell me nearly enough. 😉 WHATS YOUR CHOICE?? ⬇️
