✨ Mango House, Galle Fort ✨
Just 2 hours south of Colombo, this small boutique hotel .gallefort is the perfect place to start your Sri Lankan adventure. Set in the heart of historic Galle Fort, Mango House combines vibrant style, colonial charm, and incredible service.

We stayed in a family duplex and a deluxe double…both spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. What really sets Mango House apart are the little touches: arrival drinks and cold towels, thoughtful gifts like branded totes, delicious home-cooked food, and staff who go above and beyond.

Breakfast on a B&B basis was a highlight – fresh fruit or curd and granola, followed by eggs, bacon, or Sri Lankan specials like hoppers, plus fresh mango juice and toast. We also dined at the lively outdoor restaurant in the evenings, where both local and international dishes were freshly cooked and great value.

It doesn’t matter how much you travel… there’s always something you forget to pack!

I’m currently in Sri Lanka and had totally forgotten just how intense the tropical heat and mozzies can be!

So here are my Top 5 Tropical Travel Tips, a few little things I really wish I’d packed or prepped better this time AND how to get around them if you did forget!

1️⃣ 50% Deet Bug spray - one can from home is enough to start with but you can then stop at the local supermarket for the tropical local brand Soffell which is sold throughout Asia. Super effective and a fifth of the price!
2️⃣ Small local notes for tips + snacks, if your forget or it’s a closed currency change just £100 up when you arrive at the destination airport so you are ready and then change up currency as & when
3️⃣ Lightweight cover-up for temples & sun - remember cover knees and shoulders (men & women!)…. Make use of your beach sarong, a shirt or swimsuit cover up
4️⃣ Electrolyte sachets trust me on this one, 4 days in and we’ve got thru one packet already. An easy alternative is a bottle of coke or lemonade stirred to make it semi flat- full of electrolytes and hydrating💧
5️⃣ Power bank – because I use my phone for everything when we travel. Forgotten yours? Did you know…? Many hotels have power banks you can borrow for longer day trips

It’s the small things that make a big difference when you’re on the move 🌴
