Another potential gift for Father's Day for the football fan in our life - a trip to Scottish Football Museum & Hampden Stadium Tour.

This tour has it all: a space filled with incredible items that tell the tale of Scottish football; priceless objects which glow in the galleries and never fail to catch visitors’ breath in amazement; monumental moments of the “beautiful game” so perfectly displayed and shared by the ever-so passionate museum staff.

Within the museum you can visit the Scottish Football Hall of Fame which features individuals that contributed greatly to Scottish football.

Go where legends have gone before and take the Hampden Stadium tour. Feel the team spirit in the dressing rooms, score a goal in the warm up area, hear the “Hampden roar” and climb the steps to the cup presentation area.

Book your places here: https://www.scottishfootballmuseum.org.uk/visit/stadium/

“In all my architectural efforts you have been half if not threequarters in them …” – so wrote Charles Rennie Mackintosh to his wife, Margaret Macdonald, the year before he died. But what can we really know about the nature and extent of the couple’s creative partnership?

Some early critics saw Macdonald as a damaging influence, tainting Mackintosh’s ‘modernism’ with her sinuous Art Nouveau decoration. More recently, she has been claimed as an equal but unacknowledged partner in her husband’s work, a woman unjustly side-lined by the male-dominated art establishment. Forming an objective view of Macdonald’s and Mackintosh’s respective roles is difficult, hampered by a lack of contemporary documentation.

In this talk, Joseph Sharples, Curator of Mackintosh Collections at The Hunterian, will consider the extent of their collaboration and the character of their artistic partnership, drawing on a range of evidence from their own lifetimes. Followed by a Q&A.

This event can be attended in person at the Hunterian Art Gallery or online via live stream. Refreshments will be served.

Event: Margaret Macdonald and Charles Rennie Mackintosh: Partners in Life and Art?
Date: Thursday 5 June 2025
Time: 6.00pm–8.00pm
Venue: Hunterian Art Gallery
Tickets: £10 / £6 via Eventbrite
