Alba Brass

Alba Brass Founded in 2004, Alba Brass are one of Scotland's most well established brass ensembles. The group are frequently recorded for the BBC’s ‘Songs of Praise’.

Alba Brass is now one of the most well established Brass Quintets in Scotland. Since their 2004 debut at the Aracena International Chamber Music Competition in Spain, they have performed throughout Scotland and the United Kingdom, as well as undertaking several international tours. In addition to performing the standard brass quintet repertoire, Alba Brass have commissioned much new work that incl

udes vocal, jazz and folk elements. Their concert programmes are often genre-bending, but also demonstrate that the brass quintet, sometimes referred to as the baby of the chamber music world, has in the twenty-first century an equal-footing with mainstream ensembles. Alba Brass have appeared at:

This Sunday on Classics, fascinating Scottish composer and member of The Whistlebinkies Eddie McGuire joins Jamie MacDougall LIVE for a special retrospective of his work in his 70th birthday year. Musician and conductor Bede Williams from University of St Andrews New Music Ensemble and Chamber orchestra joins playwright Marianne Carey to share their thoughts and experiences of working with Eddie over the years.
