Tokyo – The Grand Finale 🇯🇵
We said goodbye to the serene countryside charm of Inuyama and swapped it for the dazzling neon lights and sky high energy of Tokyo for our final stop on this unforgettable adventure.
Another seamless journey on the famous bullet train (seriously, the efficiency never stops amazing me!) and this time… I was actually awake to see Mount Fuji 🗻 appearing proudly in the distance. A proper “pinch me” moment and the perfect welcome back to the big city.
Arriving into Tokyo, we met our guide and checked into Hotel Groove, right in the heart of Shinjuku – one of Tokyo’s most electric districts. Fun fact: Shinjuku Station is believed to be the busiest train station in the world, with millions of passengers passing through every day! It’s also the area where Tokyo really turns up the volume , think giant LED screens, neon lights, karaoke bars, tiny hidden eateries and some of the city’s best people watching. Yet somehow, amongst the chaos, it still feels incredibly safe and organised (Japan, how do you do it?!).
Today, our lovely guide Ren took us shopping and Tokyo shopping is an experience in itself. From quirky finds to luxury brands and gadgets you never knew you needed, there’s something for everyone.
That evening, we enjoyed a beautiful traditional Japanese meal in our own exclusive private dining area ,a really special way to soak up those final moments of Japanese hospitality and cuisine.
But Tokyo always has one more surprise…
On our way back to the hotel, we took a detour to Golden G*i, one of the city’s most unique little corners. Imagine a maze of narrow alleyways lined with tiny atmospheric bars ,many seating only 6 -12 people at a time. Each one has its own personality, décor and loyal regulars. It feels like stepping into old Tokyo, hidden amongst the futuristic skyline.
And just like that, as the sun set on our adventure, it was time for a very early start to catch our flight home.
Japan… a little piece of my heart is staying with you ❤️
It confirmed everything I imagined it would be, but somehow exceeded every expectation. The kindness of the people, the fascinating culture, the incredible efficiency, and that magical blend of ancient traditions sitting effortlessly alongside futuristic cities.
If you’re one of those people saying, “I’d love to go to Japan one day…” this is your sign. Take the plunge. And if you need someone to help make it happen… you know where I am !
A Japanese treat giveaway is incoming 🍬 plus my final Japan roundup with top tips very soon.
