Treat yourself to a festive break
Morning mists filling the river valley are a wonderful sight at this time of year, as are the last of the autumn leaves and frost on the bracken. A perfect season for walks through the woods or along the river, perhaps with lunch or a hot chocolate at Cotehele before returning for a cosy evening in around the log burner.

Christmas markets at Truro https://www.trurochristmas.co.uk/ and Tavistock https://www.visit-tavistock.co.uk/christmas-markets are well worth visiting in the run-up to Christmas. Both Truro and Tavistock also have a wide range of shops, restaurants and cafes to make a full day out.

Celebrate the coming of Spring with Calstock's famous May Day Revels, a festival about the ancient legend of the origins of the local rivers Tamar and Tavy. A giant puppet leads a procession through the village accompanied by musicians and dancers. It is quite a spectacle!
Take part in the celebrations and enjoy local food and drinks from the two village pubs.
