We’re launching something new for local businesses across Tendring 👇

It will be in our groups below:
Support Local Businesses - Harwich & Dovercourt
Support Local Businesses - Tendring District

Businesses can already advertise in the groups as normal, that’s not changing.

But we’re introducing a Support Local Discount Incentive to help grow the group and drive even more customers your way.

Here’s the idea:

If your business chooses to offer a small discount to group members (5%, 10% – totally up to you), customers will need to prove they’re a member of the group. They’ll have a unique discount number/digital card, which you can quickly check online to confirm it’s valid before applying the discount.

That way:
• Only genuine group members receive the offer
• You’re not giving random discounts out
• The group grows because people join to access the incentive
• The bigger the group gets, the more people see your posts

It’s simple, you keep full control over the discount amount, and you benefit from increased visibility as the community grows.

This is about encouraging people to actively support local businesses, not just scroll past them.

A CIC will take a lot more time to fully set up… and I’m ready to make a difference right now 😂 So I’ve decided to start by forming a community group!

I’m looking for people who would love to sit on the committee and help shape what we do. It’s a super light commitment, just 2 hours every other month for meetings.

Hey everyone, Jay here 👋

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Local Connections where it started and where I’d love to see it go.

When I first started this (under a different name), it was just a Facebook group, a simple way for people to connect and help each other out locally. It’s still mainly that, and that’s been brilliant to see. But I believe it can become so much more.

I’d love to see Local Connections grow beyond the group to turn those online conversations into real life connections, projects, and friendships that make our community stronger and closer than ever.

To take that next step, I’m planning to form a Community Interest Company (CIC) — something that’s for the community, by the community.

Right now, I’m looking for a few people to join me as a board of directors, folks who share that vision and want to help shape what Local Connections could become. There’s no hard commitment at this stage, just a couple of hours a month for meetings (which can be held online and kept flexible).

If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, or you just want to chat about the idea, I’d love to hear from you. 💬

Let’s make this something special together.

Hello friends! You may have noticed that we’ve changed our page name from It All Happens In to Local Connections.

This change reflects what we’re truly about: building meaningful connections and keeping our community connected. While the original name served us well, we wanted something that clearly captures our mission and spirit.

We’ve had a journey growing this page, and it’s been amazing to see our community flourish. The new name helps us stand on our own, avoid confusion with other groups, and focus entirely on bringing you closer to the people, events, and opportunities that make our community special.

Thank you for being part of this journey, here’s to stronger connections and more ways to stay connected! 💛

FYI - our groups will be changing over the next couple of weeks. The old branding may exist for a little while.
