Steam fans, this one’s for you 🚂

From 19th to 22nd March, the Steam Gala takes over the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for four days of intensive steam operation across the full five-mile line.

Expect a brilliant mix of visiting express engines and much-loved resident favourites, with services running throughout the event.

⭐ Visiting locomotives include:
• 5029 Nunney Castle
• 34046 Braunton
• 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier

🚂 Up to seven home fleet engines in action
🚦 Freight workings and double-headed trains across the weekend
🚋 Steam-hauled brake van rides
🛠 Steam crane demonstrations at Oakworth
🔧 Shed tours offering behind-the-scenes access

If you love heritage railways, historic engineering and the sight and sound of steam in full flow, this is a standout date for the diary.

2 July 2024. Weather was lovely, so I went to Pen*stone Hill, not realising that this trip would get international recognition almost two years later!

The blue skies stuck around so I continued on to Brontë waterfall and took a couple of photos.

At this time of year the evenings go on forever so I thought I might as well go all the way to Top Withens.

The walk from Brontë waterfall to Top Withens is open to the elements and the English weather is somewhat erratic.

For about 15 minutes it looked like I was up Stanbury Creek without a paddle!

As I arrived at Top Withens the skies opened up creating a halo of blue sky above the farm house ruins.

Now I'm not exactly a dreamer but it did make me think: bloody hell it's nice here!

And so on the walk back down to Haworth (via a pint at the Wuthering Heights Inn, of course), I made a decision to document my trip via my crappy web developer skills.

I went to Keighley Library to learn more about the history of Top Withens and its connection to the Brontës, then published it on HaworthGuide.

Then in early 2026, I upgraded to VisitHaworth dot com just before the new Wuthering Heights film came out.

As I write this in Feb '26, the website has been credited as a source in:

USA Today
MSN
AOL
Leeds University
iNews
Corriere
and more..

My website is far from perfect but I hope it's of use to visitors and local businesses.

I have much bigger plans than I can currently share but I'm working on setting up my own business in the Brontë country.

Feel free to follow the journey!

I’m happy to announce the launch of VisitHaworth.com.

It’s a new local website focused on news and events from Haworth and the wider Brontë Country, with information on independent shops, food and drink, and things to do in the village.

The goal is to make it easier for visitors and locals to keep up with what’s on and what’s happening locally.

If you are promoting a non-profit event, or run a local shop, café, pub or restaurant, being included is free.
