What's occuring ?????

This afternoon Ruth Jones and James Cordon live at Hay Festival along with hundreds of other events over the next 10 days of all different genre, Billy Ocean, Alistair Campbell, Michael Morpurgo, Ben McIntyre the list is endless.

Getrude has started her season and her colour and scent is as ever wonderful. Hopefully as usual she keep up the good work until October /November showing off to our guests.

New cafe in town, Treetop Cafe open six days a weeks serving tea coffee and.delicious cakes. We've just tried the banana and pecan muffin and millionaires shortbread both delicious glorious view from the balcony over the River Wye. Cross Hay Bridge and its just on the otherside.

What a miserable wet horrid morning, although compared to many further up north we are not really complaining, but for this wonderful review to arrive from our latest guest just made our hearts sing.
Edit.. our 5yr guest this weekend left us a beautifully written thank you card...we are so chuffed

"Wonderful. Gorgeous location next to a small stream on the edge of Hay.

Ample, clearly marked parking.

The cottage is conveniently located close to the town centre and main supermarket, but is on a very peaceful side road so traffic noise etc isn't a issue.

Cottage was spotless, very cosy and came with everything we needed....including a very comprehensive guide to the area.

We travelled with our 5yr old daughter who loved the very comfy bed and looking at the sheep grazing close by.

Hosts were very helpful and provided a very useful app too.

One of the best places we've stayed as a family.

Thoroughly recommend."

Our wonderful Castle offers amazing views, fabulous history and lots of amazing exhibitions open every day, there is an entrance fee but well worth it.

Hay-on-Wye Castle is a historic fortress located in the small market town of Hay-on-Wye in Powys, Wales, near the English border.

The castle is a key landmark in the town, which is famous for its literary festivals and bookshops. It has a rich history, dating back to the Norman Conquest.

The castle was originally a Norman motte-and-bailey structure built around 1100 by William Revel.

It was later replaced by a stone keep and expanded into a more substantial fortification in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Over the centuries, the castle was attacked, burned, and rebuilt several times. It was a focal point during regional conflicts, including the rebellion of Welsh prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd.

In the 17th century, parts of the castle were converted into a Jacobean mansion, incorporating some of the medieval ruins.

By the 20th century, the castle had fallen into ruin. In 2011, it was purchased by the Hay Castle trust, which launched a major restoration project to preserve its heritage.

Having walked with Walk Hay many times we can highly recommend walking with them. But this new option looks fabulous if you prefer just to walk with your partner or friend but walking a slightly different walk set up with the help of Hay Walk.
